Cx friendly trails

I would think some of the rail trails, but it wouldn't be very exciting.

I've seen people coming out of LM with the cross bike, though I think PP would be better suited.

I have witnessed cross bikes at Lewis Morris/PP, 6 Miles, Allaire and Clayton. I assume the D&R is a no brainer.

Come to think of it, I was riding red one day at CR and the Specialized demo truck was there and I was riding with a guy on a demo cross bike for a bit.

Those southern trails for sure, but he said NNJ aka Northern New Jersey. I guess if you lived in Vineland they would qualify 🙂

How about this:

The Saddle River Bike Path goes from Fair Lawn to Ridgewood. While the path is paved but there are numerous spurs that could provide an interesting ride on a CX bike.

This is true, there is a main dirt trail that runs parallel with the paved trial for about 2.5 miles but on the other side of the river. You can get to it if you start on Ridgewood Duck side and ride towards Paramus. Make left at first bridge than right as you cross second one look to the immediate right, youll see it. Just follow this all the way. Two parts you can't ride on a CX bike (river crossing on stepping stones and a rocky little downhill under a bridge) other than that its pretty fun to include in a road loop.

Also, there's another little trail in Oradell right off Soldier Hill, the entrance is on the right if you are heading towards Kinderkamack. Probably less than .5 miles but breaks up road. Forget the name, might be Lotus woods?

i'm rebuilding my old er road bike into a cx bike

So i've thought about this, just a bit🙂. The demerest nature center seems to be more bike friendly these days. i used it to get up to closter and do a lap in the scout camp, a bit of a poach, but during the week i've never had a problem. If you pop out on 9w tallman is next on my list, either run it down the "stairs" at the northend and end up in piermont or take rockland road, then the cinder path to nyack and maybe even the cinder path out of nyack beach to rockland lake or even haverstraw.
