Just saying.
So here would be the next installment of Norm's Training Blog Series. As many of you know, I'm now a single loser with a lot of dishes that people have scrounged up from the basement. And a gravy bowl, thanks to Lance. And a lot of beer, thanks to my friends who came over the weekend to bring me beer.
I had a small get together at the place Saturday night. It was fun. Here we are just kicking things off:
If you weren't invited, I'm sorry. It probably means I don't text you because I made the guest list based on people I text. If you want an invite, just ask. Maybe I'll say yes, maybe I'll say no...but you never know until you try.
So this is the 3rd time I have used the word Dragon in the title of a training thread. Maybe one of these days I'll perform like one on the bike. The first one was something RNG1 would only understand, and then there was post-Taiwan where I used 2nd person for a while. I liked that, and read some of that last night. It made me LOL a few times.
Now, this is just a straight up statement about dragons. I mean, they are awesome. I wrote a short story involving a dragon recently. I don't think I'm going to publish that soon but you know I guess I have been a little dragon-specific for a bit. The dragon carved into a pumpkin was kinda cool, I think. Dave's wife thought I was BSing but he was right, I did that all on my own.
Anyway, why now and not after cross season? Well, my season is done, cooked, over. I think the storm more or less wiped out any and all hopes I had of doing anything useful. So I did the HPCX race before the storm, and was doing well until things went bad. Then I had 2 mechanicals and things went bad. And that's the end of that. Then the storm came, I became a gypsy, and my fitness left the building.
So it goes.
Now I've been working remotely for weeks. The Path is still out. Maybe I'll go in next Monday if the Path is back up to the WTC. I tried to go in a week ago but it was so difficult that I turned around at Newark Airport and went home. I think it took me 1:15 to go there and back. Very frustrating, and an incredible amount of traffic.
I have ridden my bike for 16 straight days as of yesterday. I will go out after work today, to make it 17. I more or less just ride an hour these days. And I don't post them all up anymore. I'm just lax like that, I guess. I've been on the trainer too much, and during the storm fallout I was on for like 10 straight rides. I think I've also ridden 23 or 24 days.
You would think that might keep me in a little shape but really I don't think so. I'm afraid to get on the scale. So maybe dragons are awesome but they're also fat sometimes. But we know that from the Taiwan post-trip. I still fit into my non-fat guy clothes, so I'm still ok for now.
Anyway, let the winter begin. I have no idea where this is going to go. Let's just hope it's somewhere ridiculously awesome, because I think it's time for that.
Someone say First.
