Dragons are F'ing Awesome

I am so hungry I am ready to gnaw on my laptop. Someone said drink water. I am now bloated but it don't help.
If I attempted to match your physical activity from last week, I wouldn't be hungry.

I'd be hospitalized, with an IV in my arm. 😱

I don't think I could have gotten this kind of volume at home. Change of scenery makes the miles fly by. And there was a lot of scenery. Wish I lived in Colorado or some such place.

My March stats were my biggest to date

27 rides
914.8 miles
57:21 hours

What I can't figure is how Iggy ended up with more hours yet was 20 points behind?

I secretly was keeping an eye on Kev since I couldn't close the deal in the winter race. Only to be taken out by Kush, nice!

I knew I could hold you off with your constant 1hr rides as long as I could get a couple 5 hrs in that worked but you came real close.

That was fun and will return again next year!

Once again I have to take off work to deal with this tooth. This is killing my sick days for real purposes like riding some sweet single track. Throughout the march race I have been battle an abscess and taking penicillin. It just got worst and think it;s been part of my good day/bad day situation.

Ilya may or may not have pointed this out intentionally, but I guess the fact I reference food 6 different times in that post might explain why the W in the P:W ratio is on the less side of ideal right now. Maybe we should invite them over for dinner one of these days. Actually, that would be interesting. This could be a gathering of the Freedom Tour Kid's Race podium hopefuls. Ah, not Julia so much.

So technically I didn't get dropped on the A ride last night in that I finished with the group. I did anchor my way down the line on Liberty Corner. But in my defense I literally a) pulled the first 24 minutes myself and b) absolutely have no right to be doing that now. Not that it would matter, I would have popped anyway.

But a) this is how we get stronger and as Kevin points out, b) this is why we do this, right? To eat? I have eaten some chocolate eggs this morning already. Small ones. Yes, plural. See, I have to help make sure the kids don't start bad eating habits too young. I'm a humanitarian.

On the streak bonus - If I go ride in the mist on a double day for 5 hours I get 30 points. If I ride for 31 days I get 31 points. I'd argue the streak should be more. But as we've shown before, there are 24 perspectives and there's just not 1 system to cover all the cases. You guys have some mad hours though. 57? That's crazy. I didn't even average that much when I was in Taiwan for the winter.

I want to ride more hours in April than I did in March.

I want to not embarrass myself at SSaP. Right now, if the race were Sunday, I'd probably be happy with 40th. I suck right now. I also struggled on Lamington to stay with the group. I shamefully admit that I was working with Ray to hold on. We did catch up after the sprint but if that was my old self out in the lead pack I would have been dropped, absolutely.

Thankfully I'm really only targeting cross this year.

I enjoyed Clark's chocolate & peanut butter story. And it makes me think that the world needs more chocolate mammals.

I think Matty may beat me at SSaP this year. But I would have taken 3rd in it if I would have done what I had planned, which was 1 extra hour Saturday and 4 more Sunday. But I didn't want to sacrifice the weekend for biking so I let it slide. I'm happy with where it ended.

Why not just rip the tooth out?

Eric has agreed to fix my PT wheel this weekend for me. Then maybe I'll bring Magic Bike in to have the Quarq fixed. At least you know I'm riding my bikes when most of them are in some state of disrepair. I wish Utah was my neighbor. We could make him potato pancakes in exchange for bike labor.

wobblier than jake on a saturday night. nice.

and welcome back to the world of CONTENT.

Great seeing you out there Norm and thanks for leading the group out to start. It was a large group with a variety of experience/abilities and you did a great job keeping us all together and steady.

I got dropped on Burnt Mills but must have gotten extremely lucky with Stop Lights because I was able to catch back up with guys right after crossing 206.

All in all it was a great run and as you said, this is how we get stronger right?

I have some Cadbury mini eggs watching for lunch. They are so sweet they make my teeth hurt.

One thing I noticed at HOH is that these higher cat. peps are skinny as f. While
I like climbing fastly, I have no interest in sitting around being hungry to get like that.

Funny I said to someone about 3 weeks ago I want to ride with you because I wanted to do to you what I remember from our first ride at SSP. You did some waiting 😉

Couldn't agree more with Kev I like eating and will continue, which is why I haven't seen under 200lbs since 20yrs old and prolly never will...

Mine started on training wheels and took a bit of time to get off. Kids take time, at least mine do. Like when I first put Nick on ice, he cried for half an hour, and now he's ovechkin jr. Sounds good on getting together; maybe when we open the pool up that could be really fun for kids.

i got my girls off training wheels and riding in like two days. my son, OTOH, has been on a kick bike since he was 2.5 and can't pedal. it's silly.

oh- i was thinking the same thing on the pool. not yours, ours. unless yours is nicer...in which case i was thinking yours. 🙂

It's nice. We should do a team thing. I also can make a CX course in my backyard. LIned with chocolate bunnies.

Has it really been 19 days? I have to admit it actually feels longer.

Random things:

1. I still ride my bike a bunch.
2. My claim that I wanted to ride more in April than March was silly. I just needed some time off so I've taken it.
3. I am getting faster, see the KOMs last week here: http://veloviewer.com/athlete/8974/rides
4. I pissed off some guy named Joe Jacobs. I took one of his KOMs back the day after he took mine. He then decided to go out a few days later and target me, specifically taking 5 KOMs that were mine. He rode down the hills, then back up, for at least 2 of them
5. One was the McCheese Hill of Death
6. Joe is a cat 2 roadie
7. I ate lamb Sunday for dinner. And drank wine.
8. Andy and I have ridden together 35 times this year
9. She hung on with the HG A- ride on Saturday. She's getting stronger and stronger.
10. She rode her first real MTB ride at Stewart Sunday. First time on clipless pedals
11. I'm proud of all she's done on the bike. She still has a lot of potential to fill. Soon these rides with her are going to be far too fast for me to consider them anything close to recovery.
12. Julia turned 7 last week
13. Tonight is going to be her 4th birthday party in 8 days.
14. I'm going to race Sunday
15. By "race" I mean "ride faster than normal"
16. I don't think I'm going to win
17. I don't think I'm going to lose
18. There's a better chance I lose than win
19. After the race I go home then later drive to Baltimore
20. I'm taking my bike with me

20 is enough. Pick 1 or 2 of those above and comment on them. I have more random things I could say but I think 20 is like 10 too many for most people. It's been 19 days, so I'll stop at 20.

Hope all is well.

I mad at segundo for taking one away like the next day. He pretty much rode to it and went home. Anything i get incorporates a real ride, silly i know but i find it annoying. Maybe i will drive down and ride that section till its impossible for him to beat ; )

and THAT my friends is why all of us should bail on strava and use mapmyfitness. we process data differently so, if, say Moritz rolls your hood and steals you KOM but never comes back, well, he doesn't get to keep it. riding it fast once, who cares. riding it fast CONSISTENTLY is the win.
