This is a smart strategy. They can say to all the ebike/mountain bike haters that they looked into the "issue" of ebikes and set new regulations accordingly.

That is a better idea have a 20mph speed limit on mups and if you want to ride faster hit the road. It feels very wreckless to go over 20

You won't have to deal with any other factors this way. Isn't is all really just a speed issue anyway.

This is silly. How can there be a speed limit on trails no matter what kind of bike you ride?
 
I've went over 20 at 6MR the last time I was there. Probably on Red hitting the jumps after the Blue split heading towards Canal Rd.

I've gone over 50 on the occasional road descent.

It is about liability. If a person has an accident with a bigger motor, the 'officials' can say we don't allow them and that limited staff prevented then from being caught.

The class 1 pedal thing is national (I think)
 
Since e bikes are cycles with motors(motorcycles), we need to get them registered and start mounting license plates on them. Then they can start hanging speed cameras in the trees and get those tickets going out and the fines rolling in. It’s only right to start making these people riding heavy high torque bikes tearing the heck out of the trails pay and pay big for letting the couch win.:popo:

What liability? Most states have inherent risk statutes where mountain bikers know the risk and cannot sue. Unless you are trying to argue that ebikers increase the inherent risk ( if that even matters?).
