I save $20 in gas each day I don't drive the Camaro. I can use that saved money to buy donuts during the week, and do more donuts in the Camaro on the weekend. SmilesPerGallon.

Logic is just too tough to contest here. 🤘🏻🤘🏻

But id strip that rack and bag, sell em, and load the front. Personal preference on where i like the weight and looks better.

For Commuting I always preferred a Pannier and rear rack because it doesn't really matter, and I can use the kickstand without the bike falling over. When I'm Bikepacking I definitely move the weight around so it's more even.

That bike weighs 50 lbs? I thought an e-commuter would weight a lot less than an e-MTB.

It's probably 45lbs. I'll weight it for real. The frame and fork are lighter but it has super flat proof tires and heavy wheels. It's only the 4.0, the 5.0 has a carbon fork and lighter poop.

If you don't follow my thread, I bought an E Commuter. Turbo VadoSL EQ. I did 3 Commutes on it this week, which is 30 miles round trip, and it's been a blast. The ability to get a hard workout in during one of the rides is very, very real. On Wednesday the battery died and I had to pedal a 50lb Hybrid up all the hills into Summit wearing a pair of Teva Moccasins 🤣

I swapped the pedals to a proper MTB flat pedal and installed a wider flat bar so it feels more natural.

I set the Modes to be 25/50/75. I stay in Sport except for hills. You need to run it in Turbo to make it uphill because it's heavy. Especially loaded with snacks and lunch and clothes and a lock, etc...

And it’s fun as fu*k

What is the life expectancy ( the battery, not the single charge) of a e-bike battery and how much will they cost once you have to replace them? If I could commute on one I would be all over it (30+ miles each way).

Most drop 25% after 300 or so charge cycles. If you did 3 Commutes a week that's about 2 years before the battery level dropped. After that you'd have to have a charger at work and charge it each way for another 2ish years. After that it probably won't have enough juice and the battery will need replacing at ~ $700. By then I feel the tech will change and I'd just buy a new bike. Like a phone.

It's cheap compared to the e-MTBs discussed in this thread. $3750 MSRP. The interwebz says it weighs 37lbs ready to ride (panniers, etc), and Specialized says 33lbs, which doesn't seem bad at all. It will be interesting to see what Jim's scale says.

Riding bud Russ just came back from knee surgery 28 days ago. In 2+ hours/8 miles Saturday @ Brisbane, used only 30% of the battery on the Levo SL.

1. He must be pedaling?
2. Might not need the big 🔋 bike?

According to my Bathroom Scale, it is exactly 37lbs with everything except the pannier. I run an Ortlieb Commuter which is 2lbs. So that's 39lbs dry in real life.

Rode Sterling Forest on Saturday. It was later in the day, around 4pm. A group of four ebikers rolled out in front of me. Out of the dozen riders I encountered, only two were on regular mountain bikes. At one point I was hauling ass and sucking wind when I heard people behind me chatting away as they pulled closer. I thought, “Wow, these guys must be in great shape.” It was only as they passed, apologizing - “Sorry, we’re cheating a little.”- that I realized they were on ebikes. It was humbling, exciting and annoying all in one.
