Not that interesting of a story. With that said my favorite thing to do is cruise the sessex branch to the paulinskil on my bike then back, miles of staying off the road.
Interesting in that the story was:

Bike rider riding in shoulder with car behind them in the lane.
Bike rider turns left in front of car.
Bike rider gets hit.

They could have kept using the color of the bike instead of calling it an E-Bike and it would have been just as relevant to the story.

Agreed. The Onion headline could have been, "Inattentive cyclist applies for Darwin Award and fails."

they should mention if it was an EV or ICE vehicle -
and again the cyclist got hit by the car, not the person driving the car......

driver hits e-bike.

call me paranoid but for those interested I bought this for charging my ebike since I do so indoors and my memory sucks.

Out here in the Grand Tetons-Wyoming. Hit the Phillips Pass with my Trance-E. signs posted frequently saying no e-bikes. Same thing down the pass in Idaho @ Mike Harris campground trails. Apparently, e=bikes have not caught on yet out here.

Probably not when the locals keep seeing people on E-Bikes from out of town not following the rules.

JTBC, when I posted (#2468 6/25/23) the article above about the 4 senior citizens killed in a fire caused by ebike batteries, I got some indecipherable reply about gaslighting from Matty and some conspiracy theory baiting from Leo. So, I let it go.

The second time, not so much. This is the MAGAt approach---start culture wars, then whine about it when someone responds.

Note that Leo still hasn't responded about Hannity's college degree.
I'll never understand people who value a college degree over real world achievement.
Someone who succeeds with little or no college is even more impressive than one who went to an elite school and given every advantage.
The Unibomber went to Harvard... just sayin'

Agreed 100%. There are some fields of study, mostly science, where the fundamentals can only be taught in a formal educational setting but even then you need to know how to apply them. I know engineers who don't know what end of a screwdriver to use and some techs that can run circles around them. I used to be in awe of those who graduated from "elite" institutions of higher learning but not anymore. Granted, many of them are very smart but I'm old enough to have come across just as many who leaves you scratching your head and question your own sanity. I've worked with an engineer who graduated from MIT and I was not very impressed by his performance.

It might not matter as much once you have experience, but the only way to get your foot in the door at most companies is to have a degree.

My dad worked as an "Electrical Engineer" for 50+ years, but could never sign a set of plans. Started as a draftsman at 18 and just stuck to it. Good luck starting out like that today.

You can get pretty far in the academic world by just having a good memory. Listen to what the prof says and repeat it on a test.
Everyone knows the equation E=MC^2. How many people truly UNDERSTAND it?

Yup, that's what I'm saying. You can memorize all the equations you want but if you don't know how or when to apply which one then they're useless. You have to understand the equations and the problems so you can pick the right one.

Can you learn on your own, sure, but If your mind is that disciplined and focused you’ll probably be a success in life no matter what you do. Otherwise, You’re not learning biochemistry, molecular genetics, immunology, microbiology, organic chemistry etc. from Google, unless you go to college and have good professors. I think the pandemic perfectly illustrated this (go back and read the bullshit in the pandemic thread on this forum alone). All the Google scientists everywhere did a bang-up job.
