Just woke to this

“My son was riding his bike on campus last night and got hit by an electric scooter (which are banned from campus). His friend took him to the ER. They transferred him to a trauma center 90 min away because he ruptured his spleen. TBD on surgery as of now. It’s been a long long long night “

On my morning rides have been noticing that the day laborer demographic is find of these as people I used to see on bikes at 5am are now on these.

Also, love the water bottle on that bike lol
Been seeing the same. Dude I see the most is on a fat bike, has no lights, riding against the flow at like 25mph.

I had an "almost" with one of those over the weekend. He was on the shoulder but didn't see him until the last second. I know these guys don't want to be seen, but I doubt they realize how dangerous that is for them.

With much talk about unregulated, throttle “e-bikes”, I’ll add what I believe is the most refined pedal assist bike I’ve seen yet.

I am biased for sure, but check this thing out

First time riding an ebike on trails and I really enjoyed it. The easier trails felt like car racing. Brake late, get the thing turned, back on the gas. Tons of fun. The tech is a different ballgame just being able to generate speed everywhere. A couple of pedal strokes and you can skim over all of the awkward rocks and roots. Felt like an electric trials motorcycle. The only place that it felt kind of dumb was on faster flow trail stuff where the motor wasn't really a benefit and the weight made it a bit harder to control speed. But even there, I didn't hate the extra stability from all of the down tube/bb area weight. I'm not rushing out to buy one (yet) but I totally get why people are so into these.

The Levo 4 motor is a step up in refinement from even the latest Bosch cx gen 5. But, it's a Specialized with an Apple watch display. Compromises.

That's just being stupid on the road, regardless of the bike he was riding.
I'm assuming based on the rider's shadow that the oncoming traffic had quite a bit of sun glare. Wonder if the rider had a light on the front of the bike.

And also, "Oh I see that car starting to turn left in front of me, not to worry though I'm on a bike and they will definitely see me and definitely stop because I have the right of way".
