Fatbikes of NJ Gallery

Am I the only one who likes the wider Q factor of a fat bike? Too narrow causes me knee pain.

Remembered to take a pic today

Well, I rode my fat bike today for the first time in 16 months. It's been upside down in my basement in a non-functional state that entire time. I was pretty desperate to get out and ride, so last night I straightened the hanger, put on a new derailleur, added a new chain, put pedals and grips back on, mounted the studded tires I bought four years ago and never used, and then did a quick test spin in the driveway. I was pretty surprised that my gears actually worked, but was more surprised when I got out on the trails and they worked under load.

I hit the Tourne this morning before work and conditions were pretty solid. I've never ridden with studded tires before, and they weren't really necessary, but man, it's a game changer. I was purposely riding on the ice, and I was able to stand and climb without issue. If I could snap my fingers and make all the snow go away, I'd do it without even thinking about it, but I did actually have a good time out there today. Good to know I still haven't turned into a real fat biker yet though.

Beautiful snow day. New shifters and rear derailleur installed by me yesterday. Had to try them out. Took it easy post colonoscopy.
