As per suggestion during sign up...here I is be. 😀

Just started to ride again after over a year. Never really rode heavily or much. Have had decent bikes and Target Schwinn. I'll post more on those in future threads I suppose. Anyway, I'm looking to do more trail riding primarily to stay in shape and equally to ride for pure fun and relieve stress. Not looking to get too hurt so not looking to go jumping for huge air, etc.

I use to drive a fast car as form of release, but priorities changed and this is my new need for speed. Which is part of the reason I choose to get back into biking.

Oh speaking of speed...I toyed with the idea of getting a road bike. I test rode several entry level models and while it's cool and all I just love mountain bikes more, even if I have to suffer more on the street with one taking a neighborhood spin.

Speaking of spinning...after test riding bikes from several bike shops I came across one that spoke to me on a visceral level and I connect with physically on the trails. I now am committed to suffer for my fun and gains with my new baby. 2011 SE Stout 29er single speed rigid. Frame is a small 15" and I'm normally fit for Medium frames, but the shop I bought it from (D&Q in Cherry Hill) had modded it with a different Scott component stem and also upgraded the pedals with Shimano's. The stem gave the bike the proper fit for me. In fact, I just love how it handles. Love the dirt jump geometry of the small frame!

I'll get some pics up soon.

Well ramble over. More on stuff later I'm sure. Thanks for having me around.

you bought your bike from an ice cream shoppe?
this is probably a really good idea. even if the service sucks there is always the ice cream thing.

Danzeisen & Quigleys. It's my old shop. They do alot of road stuff and some Mtn, Trek, Scott mostly.....a few SE bikes and just brought in Jamis.

What blows my mind is that I was about to make a Dairy Queen joke and then this is the first reply. Sucks to get scooped by Iggy.

Welcome. Don't eat the brown acid.

I really like the after service they offer. Stumbling on the SE...I saw it and loved the look straight away. Wasn't going to ride it but loved it's look so much that I asked before I was about to walk out. Then fell in love with it. Sales guy said I could take it home and try it out for a few days to really decide. I suffer worse on the street of course and actually took it back. Got my refund. Started to do a whole 'nother round of shopping/testing. But missed the hell out of it. Went back and re-purchased it. NO regrets! 😎

Second place isn't so bad. Hell, I'll be in second place the whole time riding...but that's ok with me so long as I'm smiling at the end of the day. 😀

Welcome!

We'll have many questions for ya, but just welcome for now.

Enjoy the ride.

Welcome aboard and to the joys of 29er SS coolness....

Thanks peoples. Single speed isn't for everyone. I had one before with a Raleigh XXIX. It was a medium and I rode it one day over in DE at White Clay. I about puked. Even now I need to get into better cardio shape with the bike. I can go all day in a raquetball court and lifting weights but on a bike it's much different!

I know the limits will be greater in so far as getting up tough hills (no problem, I hate them damn things anyway so I'll go as far as I can then carry the rest of way). Also, I absolutely love that I have to pick my line carefully. Figure should make me a better, safer rider in the long run. Plus, I just love the simplicity and low maintenance issues I'll have to deal with. Works for me is all.
