Bike specs: http://www.konaworld.com/09/09_one20_en.cfm
18 inch frame.
I'm not super bike savvy yet, but in the 2 years I've owned my Kona one20, I've never used the large (44t) and small (22t) center chain rings. I've only ever used the middle (32t) ring.
According to http://www.rideonenine.com/blog/1x9-conversion-dummies I should be fine just buying an outer bash ring, and a chain stopper.
The reason I don't just leave it be, seeing as it's such a cheap bike, is that it's all I'm going to be able to afford for the foreseeable future, and it seems that I can get it done myself for a little less than $60. The past few weeks my center derailleur has been skipping to the smaller/bigger chain ring even when not switching gears.
It's been adjusted about 20 separate times, and I'm just done with it. I'd like to see it gone if I can get this done for so cheap.
Worst comes to worst and I can't handle doing it myself, which is a possibility, approx. how much do you think it'd cost to have a LBS do it? (Say.. Town Cycle.) 🙂
And as always, thanks for whatever advice is given!
