So a guy who trains to be able to bury himself for an hour or so in Cross and XCO races can put down serious watts during a half-hour time trial? Especially when it's known he doesn't plan to complete the entire 21 day race and can afford to sacrifice a bit to stay in yellow for another day or two.

Epic performance, but not surprising - at least it wasn't to me. I was thinking yesterday there was a good chance MVP would do well in this TT. It seemed to suite him.

Despite the UCI trying to ruin the sport with all dumb rules like no supertuck, the crashes which took out at least 1 top guy with Ewan, Primoz being covered in road rash…..despite all that….. this tour has been pretty entertaining so far. I couldn’t care less about the TT but all the races have been pretty 🔥.
I also saw the UCI chickened out with suing that lady with a sign. Maybe they didn’t have a case and knew it somehow.
Cav has been comeback rider of the decade.
Sagan is a no show.
Ineos is not what they used to to be. Probably too late. But you can never tell.
Wout has been a no show.
MVDP is a stud and going to wreck all of these races, only to bounce early and probably get Gold in the olympics. CRAZY. Seriously, can anyone see him losing the gold? (Unless the course is really climby, but even then….). Oh, then to wrap up the season maybe he’ll win another UCI XC race, then take a few months off and proceed
to WIN EVERY CROSS RACE he enters. I think we’re seeing one of if not already the greatest endurance/not DH cyclist of all time.
My prediction…Not even going out on a limb, I don’t think. We can come back and 🔥 me otherwise.
Tadej is gonna win comfortably and early.

Stage 3 probably would have been Sagan If midget boy didn’t crash him.
Wout’s issue is he has some team duties.
The Olympics is a hilly course, the only issue with MVDP is that he is prone to REALLY bad days. So hopefully that day isn’t one of them. Let’s just hope whoever wins does not wear the golden helmet til the next olympics like damn golden Greg.
don’t forget that ineos won the giro, dauphine and tour de suisse, sooo not exactly washed up. Still, pogacar has 1:36 on Carapaz. At least they will need to attack in the mountains.

Giro, no doubt is Grand tour win but Tadej and Primoz weren’t even there so…it definitely reduces the accomplishment. In my opinion. I think Bernal knew he wouldn’t have a chance at the TDF.

Ha, I love GVAM but he could have been done with the gold after a season.
the 3 majors races before the tour, kinda. I don’t follow gc much anyways but they still won them. I am not saying pogacar won’t win but the race didn’t even get to the mountains yet…
Which is why I called it a prediction.

I shouldn’t laugh, Roglic did hit the ground very hard the other day…. It’s just that Phil and Bobk‘e pine on and on about the “Two” Slovenian’s…. Hey guys’ Um, there’s three…. And the third one is apparently an adequate climber…. Seeing as Mahoric is the national champ and he won the stage today and all.

Good question,because it looks more like a NASCAR race then a bike race with all the crashes.

It started today with stage 8 in the Alps! Fantastic stage, love seeing them descend at 40-50 mph in the rain on those twisty roads and the was Pocagar decimated the GC on the climbs.
Wout made up for it yesterday. Winning the double Ventoux a day after being in the mix for a sprint. Dude is unreal.
Not an original thought, but it seems like all roadies should race cross in the winter. Apparently it toughens them up.
They will go nuts if he breaks Merckx’s record. Deservedly so.
