Going Long and Hard.

Stripped, rebuilt the Aethos back to stock and handed it in.

Bought a faster frameset to compliment the Roubaix. Really I just needed something to hang parts on.

It’s hard to tell but it’s like a brown marble. I seem to have a thing for brown bikes?

Also despite my better judgment I went back to an integrated front end and 1 piece bar/stem. Only took 3 hours to run 2 brake hoses 😂
Kind of reminds like someone smeared ‘mud’ (the type that starts with a P) on a black frame or took a ride at 6 mile…

Not yet. I have a long history of lower back issues so I'm very conservative with these.
Gotcha, it's a pretty big difference with the handles flipped. I use to have terrible low back issues constantly at the chiropractor throwing it of whack doing the simplest movements. My back issues have pretty much completely gone away now that I started lifting weights I credit most of it to deadlifts for strengthing the spinal erector muscles. Keep it up 👍

My list of injuries is pretty substantial at this point so this journey has all been positive despite everyone on the internet calling me a bitch for not pulling 500lbs.

I broke my back in 2004 riding trials and blew up to almost 250lbs. By the time I got in any kind of shape I broke my shoulder and all of my ribs and scapula during my bad crash of ‘09. Then I broke my shoulder and arm a second time in 2010. Then it’s been a steady stream of broken ribs, until ITI in ‘22 when I broke my Pelvis. Then my hand in ‘23.

Wow I thought I had a lot of injuries over the years but yikes 😬 ps if you're not pulling 585 for reps are you even lifting ?🤣🤣at least thats what tik tok has taught me

I use the SS Chart to track my progress. And Art constantly says the weight is irrelevent for a cyclist. He wants you to be right around 150% Body Weight as a 1RM. Which for me is like 290lbs. My sets yesterday were at 275lbs so I want to say I'm where he wants me to be despite never actually trying for a 1RM. My personal goal is to hit Cat3 so I can be solidly mediocre 🤣

For the Dot Watchers among us...Fat Pursuit is on.

We also have a NJ Local using it as prep for ITI if you want to root for him, although it looks like he's truggling at the moment.

He could probably use the wheelset I just finished building him 🤣

Happened the 2nd year I did it too, only 1 person finished. Being where it is the weather is pretty nuts. Temps only dropped to -35 which is well within most of these folks comfort zone, but pushing through a foot of fresh snow at altitude usually is not.

The pushing at altitude took me out my 1st time there, and -50 temps the 2nd time. My 3rd attempt was prepared for both.

There are at least 4 people signed up for the ITI that scratched and it’s never mentally good to head into a harder event after a fail.

Can’t believe he’s gone. He got me through all of my ITI Qualifiers and was a huge part in landing a top10 during the ‘19 ITI350. No one believed in me at all, but this guy did. He was a phenomenal coach, fellow competitor, and close friend 😢

Sorry man.

Didn’t know him personally but I read about it the other day from someone else. Terrible tragedy. 😢

Don’t feel like swapping the studded tires on just yet so I’ve been in the gym the past couple days. I cleaned everything out and rearranged the setup because I ordered a Leg Press so had to make room.

Also in prep I found a guy selling a pile of 45lb plates so I bought them all. Now I have a whole bunch of old rusty stuff!!

Jim, it looks like you're using a thumbless grip (left hand) on that barbell bench press. I know that it feels good, but I hope you're being VERY careful with that lift, especially when training by yourself (which I assume is virtually all of the time). Needless to say, if the bar slips out of your hands, you could be toast. YouTube is loaded with clips of just that happening to all kinds of trainees, and when it happens, it happens frighteningly FAST. Be careful, my friend!
