Hello, all!

I mostly ride road and track bikes, but, last December, I got hooked on mountain-biking while visiting my mother in California. I rode a stock Kona Unit (old 26" version) every day for a month--until I tried my hand at dirt-jumping and proceeded to break my scaphoid (and my bike). I was in a cast for five months.

Since then, I've only been mountain-biking once, in Cunningham Park in Queens. I have to admit that I was pretty tentative and probably carried my bike more than I rode it! But I'm hoping to get my skills and confidence up after the holidays.

My current mountain bike is a Cannondale 1FG (old 26" version). I'm a bit of a weight weenie, and I'll be trying to get it under 20 pounds (with the stock fork).

I live in Brooklyn and work in Manhattan, but I'd like to check out the Jersey trails someday soon.

Yo Brooklyn in da house! You maybe surprised by the land of swamps, that thar hillz over der. Welcome!

Welcome to MTBNJ... the state of everything mtb.

Hey weakrider.....ride enough out here in Jersey and you'll have to change your name to strongrider. Oh...and change to those funny looking big wheels. 🙄

Welcome!

There are riding going on a lot. Keep checking out the forums.
And if you are going to be doing a lot of riding in NJ Join JORBA, there a big reason you can...😀

Oh Tubeless sucks and 29ers are for girls...😉

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys!

I can't wait until it snows, so that I can rip around in Prospect Park.

I've ridden a 29er, and I have to say that I don't much like it. That's probably because it's easier to shoulder a 26er over the really gnarly stuff 🙁

Welcome! Yes, keep checking the site for rides.
Just ask people, "what exit are you from?" and you'll do fine.
