I forget, who agreed to tow me?

Will I be the only one there with 23c tires and the largest rear cog as a 25t?
Ooof

Edit...
I got me some of those 23/25 Specialized Roubaix Road Tubeless, whatever that means. 23 tire on a 25 casing? I dunno, but it says Roubaix, so they must be made for shit roads.

I'll be running 42x18 ( ideally I'd like to risk 42x17 but for once I will err on the side of prudence )

As everyone is saying conditions are good, 23c should be fine with nice high pressure. I've run it without incident on 25c year after year. The SS has 28c so I'll be able to have a bit less pressure and a softer ride.

I'll be starting the ride with a collection of geared peeps so I'll be spinning like a fiend to keep up on any flat sections, I expect that will not last and we will part ways when they lose patience and I lose RPM.

What avg speeds did you guys do in the past?

Dave - seriously.... I've been doing partial HOH loops every weekend for the past two months and depending on weather and wind, I've been pulling 15.5 - 16.5mph. There's alot of climbing and gravel...

At one point, I thought I could pull off a 17mph avg but the course beats you down over time and you end up slowing down.

For me - finishing this course on a good conditions day with an avg speed between 15.5 and 16.5 is good day.

Hmmm, hard to believe with the guesstimated finish time of 4.5 hours for the first group of riders.
Hmm, my calcs were off 😉
Front group will be in the 19's but this year is just about perfect conditions, winds look to be minimal so I would say 20 for the front group.

All depends on the group you are with...

Me too. Merritt can bump bars with some other fools. He needs to race to get his moneys worth since he does not like beer.
A few years back the first finishers were around 4:20 I believe. And if the course and weather are as good as forecasted it will probably be a fast time.
And no bumping bars please ! Remember, it's not a race.😉
