HOH Hell of Hunterdon

Hey I fought that wind like a man, wasn't drafting other guys like you wussies. Besides, I'm so much faster now 21 mph would prolly be a piece of cake!

Fat bike. Don't even bother bringing the road bike because I'll kick you in balls hard enough that you won't be able to ride it.

PS-I'm bringing my road bike. And by road bike I mean Rusty.

PPS-I'm riding there/back from my crib just in case someone wants to add 60 miles to the day. Leaving at 7am to hopefully arrive by 9ish. PM me if interested.

So how was it? You guys had a great day, especially compared to last year. I saw a bunch of cars with bikes on racks when I was going to the sourlands yesterday

I really enjoyed yesterday, it renewed my interest in the road riding. Lately I have not been feeling the road thing, compared to mtb I find it boring.

However riding with a group and being on the HOH course makes road biking way more fun. The weather was perfect and I was rested going into the ride so 80 miles felt easy. I hid in groups for most of the ride then found a tired 26er with about 20 miles to go. He and I worked together to finish out the day.

For me this is all the joy of Battenkill without the racing and having to drive 4 hrs to get to the event. Also I find it to be a good training ride as well as the opportunity to catch up with most of the cycling world.

The cool kids at the lunch table, post ride.

Goal accomplished! Completed my longest ride. Had great company and saw lots of peeps along the way. Felt good with no mechanicals or issues. My CX skills paid off on some of those dirt roads. 'Twas a good day indeed!

The kermesse site said we will get email from.photographer when everything is uploaded and processed....think the name is Mike Many iirc? Said may be couple days tho
Where was the photographer? They used to put out the Belgian flag but I didn't see them

I got some great advice on gearing ( 42x18 ) seemed like it was gonna be too 'spinny' but for moderate periods of time 19mph-21mph was not too unpleasant and while the most fun of the day was stomping the climbs, abruptly at mile 65 the legs requested 'no more steep stuff'. Thankfully the rest of the coarse was devoid of any unpleasantness.

Happy to report that Pine Hill was fine with 42x18, no foot dab or walking required.

Will never consider doing HoH with gears as long as I am healthy enough to do otherwise. Awesome day, hoping for 42x17 next year if -10 lbs ( 175 )
