IGVENTURE

I was Cat 4 in 2004, I'm not sure what the statute of limitations is...can I still be a 4 or do I have to start over? My road license says 4 but I have not renewed my roadie license in 7 yrs.

Battenkill is on my radar, but I'd also like to put similar races(road course w/50+miles and climbing) on my schedule throughout the year. I have to do some research. Coming in midpack in races I enjoy doing are still fun to me. + its a great way to train.

If you are racing KVSP show up tubeless or stay home. I just got back from there and flatted my rear tire 2x. I also flatted there 2wks ago. Those jagged little rocks eat tubes.

I had plans to set my back tire up tubeless like the front one. It didn't happen and now I gotta get off my ass and get this right.

didn't you flat there a few times last yr? or was that RW? Either way just slow down & that will solve your problem.

You racing age or ss?

Even tubeless will not help, KVSP eats tires and spits them out period. Especially at race pace. Think of it this way you got it out now so the race has got to be clean.

I flatted 2x on the pre-ride at RW, at the race I was ok. I'm hoping thats how it will go this wknd.

Not sure what I'm racing. I'm rockin the SS but not sure if I'm gonna line up with you and Ilya or lil rob.
Prolly age, this way I can race w/you, Ilya and old broken down but sexy Rob.

I have sacrificed 3 tubes to the kvsp tire gods, gonna be tubeless Sunday. I hope the tire gods shine down on me. If not, f it. DH40 is in 2wks.

I flatted at KVSP last year on the race preride, and i was tubeless.

Then I broke my seatpost during the first 10 minutes of the race.

I have venue revenge on my mind. Which means I'll break my frame.

KVSP Recap

I'll start off by saying the Bulldogs did an excellent job putting on today's race. The course was marked flawlessly and the hospitality tent had plenty of water, even at the end of the day when everything seems to run out. And quick results made for a perfect event.

The course had great flow to it and was glad I opted to race my SS in my age division. I did a warmup w/ Chris G, Ilya, Utah, and Kirt. We went out a bit hot for a warm up so I backed off and did a slower pace with Chris. We made it back to the start area in plenty of time for last minute business and headed to the start line. It was nice to have Ilya, Kirt and Rob in my class, its rare to have 4 of us together.

As I was waiting in line looking around at my division I began to wonder if I didn't make a mistake opting to SS, everyone else was geared and the other guys in the warm up were flying past me on my SS. Fuck it too late now to do anything about it.

Off we go, the pace seems hot to me but the start of everyone of these things seems hot to me. With 25 guys racing I figure I'm sitting about 18 or so. The 1st lap is uneventful, other then a guy going down in front of me then making a quick recovery. I don't see any of my teammates.

Lap 2 and I am by myself. I hear the sound of crankarms hitting the occasional rock and see guys here and there but everyone seems to be holding their positions.

By the last lap guys are starting to fall off the pace big time. I love the last lap in these races. By the 3rd lap I am numb to pain and today I had plenty of fuel in my tank to finish strong. At this point I am way in the zone and my bike feels like an extension of my body. I pass a lot of guys and my confidence builds as does my strength with each pass.

I finally come across one of my teammates. Ilya is working hard but was having tire problems so I go around him. Further up I find Chris G in the SS class and we ride together to finish. Looking back it was nice to finish with Chris near since we started the day together on the warm-up.

My standing on the day was 8th place...I'll take it! I loved the course and had a blast...especially the last lap. My offcial time was 117 minutes or 1:57

Good to see those crossmarks held strong for you. They must have weight restriction cause I have had 2 fail in races before and I must be 100 kegs on you 😀. Great finish Chris my buddy who rides for HG told me you passed him on the last lap and he saw you were SS which took some air out of him...

SS in the geared class... You are gangsta my man... I like the write as well being that it is short and to the point...

Oh no my friend, you murdered me on the third lap a couple miles before my tire issues! Good show.

wow great job and on a SS!

a prophet?!? there were a ton of flats out there today...

Nice job buddy, I saw you come by as I was leaving, you were looking real strong.

Christ, I look pretty blasted in that photo. I didn't feel as bad as it looks. I'm amused to note that I'm drinking water out of two bottles, my own (very warm) and the other which was thoughtfully provided by Chris (blissfully cold). And yes, that Castelli base layer might be just the thing for a night of fist-pumping, or line dancing, or whatever it is that those crazy kids are doing these days.

Let me be another to add that Iggy Poo killed it out there yesterday, and it was stupid fun to ride in with him.
