IGVENTURE

I wouldn't be able to get my wife on a tandem either, hell I mentioned getting a motorcycle once and she said you better get 2 cause Im not riding on the back with you. My wife enjoys 2 wheels too much then to sit back and stare at my backside.

Iggy,

Did you sign up for the VT 50? Its sept 30th. Maybe next year since this year is full.

ahhhhhh, another race to contemplate. i have no mind of my own people...stop messing with me.

my next race to peek for is CP in November, in between is filler stuff. I do want to mix things up for next year and try different races, but then again i say that every year and end up doing the same races. But I did do Battenkill this year and loved it. I'll prolly try cx racing and cx dressing this year...is this gay????

Tandems are fun, but they are not for everyone. We have loaned out ours many times, and sometimes it is returned within minutes.🙄

Some people need their space and some need to be in control. A tandem is a good test of trust and respecting trust. They often work well with parents and children because the children already trust and expect the parent to be in control.

It's been awhile since I updated this, I feel like I am back at school and need to write an assignment on What I Did Over My Summer Vacation.

Well I'll just update you on what I did over Labor Day. I rode my bike of course, but I also was asked to organize a sprint triathlon we have at our local pool I belong to. I've participated in this event a bunch of times over the last 10 years. The more I got into cycling the less I wanted to do triathlon's. Biking is just way more fun.

Evan and Jamie helped me as well as other lifeguards from the pool. Jamie is to the right of me in the dark green shirt and Evan is next to him in the orange glasses. Evan works at the pool, which is a good thing. It keeps him from drinking beer and smoking weed...somewhat. Anyway they were a big help marshalling the younger kids around the park for the bike leg of the tri. Everything went well and all had a good time. I made the mistake of doing a good job with it and now I am being asked to run it again next year. I don't mind, it was actually fun watching a race instead of killing myself in one. Oh and in case you where wondering why I wanted 45 records a few weeks ago it was for the trophies I made. We call our tri the Vinyl Man...as opposed to the Iron Man.

These Day's I've been getting more serious with the training. The weather is cooling off and work is not as demanding, so I have energy to kick ass on the bike at quitting time. My kick ass training involves intervals, which have got me motivated. I head out to the training grounds of the Great Swamp 2x/wk to beat out 5x5's and 2x15's. I need to step up the 2x15 to 3x15 when I am feeling it. This week coming up is a rest week, maybe I'll feel it after that.

The one thing I can say about training is the shit takes time. Doing this week after week I sometimes feel there is no improvement. But when I look at numbers last year and this year I see more speed and feel more powerful. For me I don't have big power but if I can keep from fading in a race that's how I can do well.

To illustrate my point of the gradual improvement I can remember 3yrs. ago reading about Norm doing 20mph avg. for 3hr. tempo rides. I used to think that number was not possible for me. Two years ago I hit it a few times and it felt like I reached a milestone. This year I hit the 21mph avg. several times to take it to the next level. I'd like to be able to do a century in 5hrs(20mph.avg.), that would be a good number to hit. Hopefully this training will pay off at Cathedral Pines come race day. Mitch is lucky I won't be on my SS, I'll be geared and out of his class. 8 laps of bust bitch!

can you make me one of them gold 45s, reminds me of when i used to wear a cadillac hood ornament around my neck .. i know i didn't contribute anyting to the cause, but it's hard to part with james brown 45s 😀

That's how you get better. Set the bar, achieve the goal. Then re-set the bar even higher.

the older adults really liked the trophies, the kids looked at it like some pos you'd get in the dollar store.

Thanks Lance. I find that once I hit a goal it no longer becomes impressive for me to achieve the same results over and over. Once it becomes too easy its time to make it hurt again. I'll throw in the Greg Lemond quote.. "It never gets easier, you just go faster."
Ok now me...it never gets easier, you just get more bling to look more pro.

Hah, didn't know you were at the swim club! I'm surprised I've never seen you there...not that I go often. Usually only when my nephews are in town. Glad to gear the event went off well!!
We gotta get together for a ride before the weather drops below 60 and I hibernate lol.

Yeah, that quote jingles around in my head from time to time.

Another common one for me is the Jens Voigt, "Shut up legs"
I hear that one in my head a lot when I do intervals.

I used to go to the pool a lot when the kids where younger. I was even Pools & Grounds guy for awhile, but it was kinda tough to relax at the pool then...there was always stuff to fix. Anyway I have good memories there, even though I don't go that much anymore I have fun when I do go...I like happy hour.

Why have you never done vinyl man bitch???

Probably b/c I like happy hour more than doing triathlons. 😎
I did my fair share of triathlons...enough to say that I don't have much desire to complete any more, any time soon 🙂

Multiple hour rides at 21 avg is very impressive and speaks to your dedication with training. Keep up the good work. Doing covered bridges this year?

I'd like to do a century out that way. Maybe we could set something up out of Capers Barn. Either way we'd end up getting lost anyway.😀

consider yourself signed up for the Vinly man next year. You could do it as a team with you're wife.

Yo Chriggy let me know if you plan any loops out of Charleston any time soon.. I would love to slow down your avg mph a little.

Mitch, join us on the Covered Bridges ride on Oct 7th. Kevin invited us over for waffles before the ride, should be fun.
