What was wrong with the Droid?

crashed regularly and heated up to somewhere around the outer surface of the sun.

I have iphone 5s. I hated it at first because it was so rigid compared to the original DROID I had. But the apple IOS user interface is more user-friendly. I kept it because I like the connectivity with my mac computer and the quality of the photos, and I never used the droid slide-out keyboard.

Re: Android, my wife hates iPhone and Mac and has had same original DROID for 4+ years. Unfortunately, it and the new DROID 4 she just got are not very compatible with our new car software/interface (not phone calling, but apps such as Pandora). This is what I would keep in mind if car interface is a requirement. iPhone has zero problems interfacing with new car apps.

+1 for Verizon network.

If download speeds are all you're caring about, VZW isn't always the fastest. But if you care about Mobile originating calls, mobile terminating calls, sms, call drops, and voice call quality, VZW is by far the best and most consistent across the country. They also have the most spectrum and are rolling out LTE advanced features while other carriers are worried about 3G coverage.

Rant over.

You're still a weirdo for not wearing a chamois. 😛

Does Verizon offer calling over WiFi yet?
Them never updating their devices is inexcusable. Why the carrier is involved in phone updates is beyond me. I won't participate in any of that bullshit.

full UMA implementation? does anyone do that?

Why would verizon offer fast download speeds anyway? So you can max out your pathetic data allowance in 30 seconds?

T-Mobile needs that technology. Otherwise you'd never be able to make a call! 😛

And the fact you don't understand why a carrier is involved with software updates shows you're clueless about how things work. I promise every carrier requires every SU tested. Admittedly, VZW tests more stringently, but that's one reason the network is the best.

I'm annoyed at myself for letting you bait me into this shit so this will be my last reply on this thread.

To the OP, either phone is nice. Goto a store and play with both for a few minutes. Make calls, send messages, etc...

You can get almost all the flagship phones on all the other networks without the carrier software. Except Verizon. Moto x pure edition is on lollipop on all carriers. Not available on Verizon. My HTC one m8 got lollipop on day 1 of lollipop release on at&t. Google play edition. Verizon offers no pure android phones.

I have the s5 which I like. I would only buy android. But I think its a little late to buy it. The s6 should be out soon. I think Samsung has been releasing the galaxy's around march. I would hold off if you could.

meanwhile the S4 got lollipop 2 freakin months ago. way to go verizon, you now have 1 phone that isn't astoundingly behind on updates.
5.1 rolls out this week, when will the s5 get that?

why do i care about 4G coverage when i never leave a 200 mile radius of central NJ

But what if you're in Moab MTBing and need to make a phone call? Luke would probably rely on WiFi, and he'd be screwed... but if you had VZW you'd be able to make the call....[emoji1]

I'll just have one of my vzw riding buddies create a wifi hotspot and I'll connect to that.
Oh, verizon blocks that ability on all their phones? OH NICE SERVICE.
Seriously where is there vzw coverage and no AT&T? nowhere.

Actually you know the only place without cell signal? Inside a god damn home depot. But they provide wifi and if I had t-mobile I could make phone calls over their wifi.
