No PR (or KOM) is worth hurting myself or someone else.
I'll push to beat my own PRs on particularly challenging uphills or rocky/technical sections, but almost never on a downhill or where speed is unsafe. No PR (or KOM) is worth hurting myself or someone else.
Truth. Plus it's the only opportunity for clydes like me to take advantage of gravity after it works against us uphill. Fair is fair.I do the same, but I'll push it on road downhills occasionally. Not for Strava, just because it's F-in fun to hit 45mph+ on a road bike. Vosseller next to the High Gear trail is super fun with the curves, and Mountain Ave coming out of Warren in Bound Brook is also a fun one because there's no side streets to worry about (a few driveways though) and it's straight, you can just tuck and fly.

And if you really want to join the fun and piss off mr segment you can just flag the ride and he won’t even know. Removes the ride results from the leaderboard.Could probably go in the "smile" thread. Assumption here. Some dude who recently discovered Strava, and paying subscriber, in July has been targeting specific segments in the area. Picking off long standing KOMs, by a lot. Start/stop total activity distance of 3miles or less, and repeated riding just the segment. Mentioned something in an activity he's on a Trek Emonda. Looks like he's riding some of the bike paths in local parks to get to segments. Also going wrong way down 1 way streets. I think it's probably an ebike.
Only reason I became aware of him was he started following me and was like, "who's this?" He's only following 4 people on Strava and all of us have/had KOMs he's targeted.
People are strange.
I literally do the opposite. Couldn’t care less about the climbs but try to kill myself getting KOMs on every single downhill. Haven’t been successful but I always be trying.I'll push to beat my own PRs on particularly challenging uphills or rocky/technical sections, but almost never on a downhill or where speed is unsafe. I mean what are you doing if you aren’t trying to rip DH.I literally do the opposite. Couldn’t care less about the climbs but try to kill myself getting KOMs on every single downhill. Haven’t been successful but I always be trying.
Nope. It's worth what I pay - bupkis

If it's not on video, it didn't happen. I do agree with the Strava work around, I have that sync'd to my Garmin account and Trailforks so no matter what device I use, I always get the ride recorded. Not Strava but having issues with Trailforks. I record rides on there on my phone, hit save, and it doesn't save! Any ideas?
The only reason i record a ride in TF is because i'm using it for navigation (which isn't too often). Regular Strava rides are recording fine and backfeeding to TF. Basically, i want to sometimes use TF to record a ride when i'm navigating, but it's not saving those rides in either App, is my problem. One solution might be to use Strava, sync it to your TF account and it will automatically upload all your Strava rides to TF. If there is an issue with TF, at least you'll have them recorded on Strava as a backup (and you can manually export/import them if you really want it).
