That in one month's time, I will need to be swimming outside:scared:

It dawned on me yesterday in the pool that I am 8 weeks out from my race so I have about 4 weeks of grace period left before I need to get in some open water swim training.....brrrrrrr.....come on spring!

I am good down to about 57-58 degrees, but below that it gets ugly....

Holy cow....

You go girl!!!!! will be cheering for you!

Wetsuits will be required this early in the season, and they are totally necessary with it being this early.

It is the filling of the wetsuit and putting your head under that cause the pain!

It is funny, because the conversation between Chris and I on these occaisions is always the same.

I suit up...I get in, the water starts to fill in the wetsuit, I look at him and go...holy crap that is cold......and then it is go time!

brrrr, I know that feeling. I remember wind surfing at Sandy Hook in late October. I would start out dry at the shore and beach start, and eventually get tossed in over my head from a gust, and it would take my breath away on that first plunge. :scared: Needless to say, I no longer wind surf.

You are a tough girl for going in the water early season. :getsome:

Ruth--I went white water rafting once around this time..Putting on the wetsuit was cold enough.. We did everything possible to NOT go in the water! You are a tough cookie.

Oh come one, Ruth, the swim is your BEST leg, stop stressing yourself out! LOL, LOL I know...definitely the pot calling the kettle black...

Anyway, why do you feel the need to get in some open water training so soon, if at all? I did ZERO open water training for both of my Ironmans. Granted, I stink in the water, but that's another topic. You know what you're doing and it's only 1.2 miles. You should be done in about 14 minutes!

I have a neoprene cap that helped SOMEWHAT when I did some early season tris. Can't say that it was much better than just doubling up on the swim caps.

Maybe you'll luck out and bad weather will force the swim portion to be canceled (I always PRAY for that...lol).

You're doing what you're supposed to do, following your plan and you will be ready! Embrace every moment, even the brain freeze! 😀

Cancel the swim....WHAT? It is the only reason I go!

Ehhhh...I know I will be fine, it just seems crazy sitting here in my flannel pj's that it will be that soon.

And I always do ows before the first races of the season. Cuts down on the choking wetsuit feeling, you know exactly what I mean....
