It there a time limit on being a "beginner"?

New to this site and looking forward to finding some weekend morning group rides with a "slow" or "casual" group to avoid getting lost the first time out in a park I have not ridden yet. Back in the saddle again after a mere 15 year couch potato hiatus. Started up again this spring with Hartshorne and later Chimney Rock. I'm the slow moving dude on my Trek 7000 ( or Trek 9000 ) puttering along slowly or getting up off the ground, dusting myself off and getting back on the bike.

welcome aboard in the spring there are beginner rides all over now due to night falling there aren't as many. check the rides section of the board for more information.

Welcome aboard!!! I've been known to host a few casual / beginner friendly rides up at Stephens State Park from time to time. Most likely putting another one together soon. Keep an eye out and come join the fun.

Welcome bigW.

Do not worry about when your not a beginner anymore. Everything you try new in the world of MTB riding you will always be a noob. One thing I would recommended is Joining JORBA. Go here http://www2.jorba.org/index.php?title=Membership

Like Mike said there are different group rides in different parks in and around where you live. Another thing if you have a question, try to use the search first on the forum, there is a lot of info on different topic's, and the search will help you find it. If you can make it on every other Sunday @ Allaire state park, there is a beginner ride. I would recommended coming down and riding one. This is the pace you refereed too in your post.

One more thing, 29 is a great number and 26 is ok, Carbon is fine in cold weather, and if you can proof read your posts. 😉

Thanks for the advice all....

Will keep an eye out for posted beginner rides, in the meanwhile CR will continue to be my weekend morning destination. ( Just got a Garmin EDGE 500 with a HR monitor, hopefully I don't trash it too quickly )
