Just an fyi, any mullet e bike that you can mount a 29er on will assist over 20mph. The Amflow allows you to program different wheel sizes.

Speaking of JDI.. Look for price increases to match those on Drones:

ouch

You can say that about anything with tech. There's always something better just around the corner.
Exactly. When I bought my Heckler I didn't realize the replacement Vala was just around the corner. Does that mean I wish I'd waited? No, not really... I like the bike for what it is... although I'll admit when I saw the dimensions of the new Reverb AXS I was disappointed when I figured out a longer post won't fit - which was one of the reasons Santa Cruz changed the design... FWIW, I don't think the longer post will fit my Megatower either...

For better or worse, the groups I usually ride with don't really get into an "arms race" when it comes to e-bikes. I figure my Heckler will serve my needs for quite a while before I'm enticed to replace or supplement it. Maybe in a few years when gearbox/belt drive e-bikes become more common. Granted, I feel the same way about an enduro bike to replace the Megatower.

To be honest, the only chain-driven bike I'm interested in right now (other than a road bike) is the Tora DH bike... and that is really out of pure nostalgia for the old Brooklen Machine Works bikes. Given how often I get to the bike parks (didn't go at all in 2024) I "need" a pure DH bike like a hole in the head... and the only way I can somewhat justify the Tora is I already have most of the parts I'd need to build one - leftover from my last DH bike, which also ran 27.5 wheels.

Don't worry, the next SC comes next week which i'd rather have than a Vala anyway...

Oh, I can't wait...

I need to get my Heckler up to the shop for a once-over since it'll probably be a while before I'm riding it again. And maybe order a set of XTR 4P brakes for it... every time I get back on the Spot, I'm reminded of how much I don't like the Codes on the Heckler... and I need a new helmet to replace the Lazer I smacked my head in when I broke the collarbone.

I'll clean up the bike and head up tomorrow if you'll be around. Looks like it'll be a wash-out for riding anyway.

The problem with Bosch offering a software update for more power is these bikes with the 600wh batteries are going to loose a fair bit of range. If you up the power by 15-20% but have a small battery you’re going to run out of charge quicker. That’s the reason the new more powerful levo increased the battery size from 700wh to 840wh, more power needs a bigger battery.

Ok, if it’s soooooo obvious why are people even looking at the Santa Cruz vala and transition regulator? Both full power Bosch bikes with 600 wh batteries. As they stand, you can ride them for more than hours with the 90nm tune. You put a 100+ nm tune on these bikes and they are going to be sub 2 hour ride bikes just like the Specialized Levo/Kenevo bikes with a 90nm tunes and a 500wh battery.
I’m an old fat guy, one of the reasons I bought an e bike is because I want to ride for more than 2 hours without feeling like a dead man the next day. All I am saying is these “light weight “ small battery full power bikes are going to turn into short ride bikes with a 100+nm tunes.

Went to Bentonville. Did not rent an eBike. It’s felt kinda dumb considering the 300’ of elevation. I mean how many times can you session minute long runs? 🙄 Never felt like I really needed a motor except at the end of a 25 mile day where we filled up with beer and burgers at mile 19.

My desire for an eBike correlates with how fat and out of shape I am, amplified by the type of terrain I’m riding. I guess I’ll have to stay in shape or ride easy trails until I have more money. 😛

I can respect that. The first time I went to Bentonville I brought both an analog and ebike. I rode my analog the first day (actually rode Bella Vista) and it was nice. Second day I rode my ebike and never touched my analog bike again for the rest of the trip. But that's just me. Last year when I went back I only brought my ebike and I'll be doing the same when I go back later this year.

Glad you enjoyed yourself enough to want to go back. If the eBike makes you happy, that’s great. 😁
