Just getting back in

Well its been a long while since I've been on a bike of my own. But after a joyous ride on a neighbor's bike, I took the plunge a bought another bike.

I grew up in Puyallup, Washington which is next door to Sumner. Sumner has one of the big national bmx tracks and my friends and I were always riding it as kids. Then I moved to SoCal where I got my first MTB and would race a group of guys in my housing development in the park trails behind our houses.

I bought a bike for 2/3 on road, 1/3 off but with priority on the off as that is where I have the most fun. For on-road, I am getting a pair of slicks and calling it good 'nuf.

I bought a Gary Fisher X-Caliber (29'r hardtail) as I wanted something good enough to grow with but not obscenely priced.

Just came here to say hi. I've yet to ride an off road trail in NJ, but will see you soon.

Welcome aboard. Get out and ride...ride...ride. Unfortunately, you're gonna have to head north, west, or south to get some good trails.

Some questions:

1) Anyone want to meet for a beginner's ride this weekend? Maybe Ringwood or Lewis Morrison? Never ridden either of those so I'd be nice to hit em up with someone who has.

2) When does racing season start? As in, if I train this year, and want to do a race next year, when do I sign up?

Racing season is in full swing!
I'm no racer, but check the posts here about H2H (the local series)
You can sign up the day of the race. You must start training ASAP! 😎

This year the 1st H2H race was May 2. There were few other races in April. So if you aim is to start next year, you have about 9 months to train.
