Keto

I didn't suggest sugar is healthy...
Yes you did. You said to eat grains and pasta. That all gets digested exactly the same as cotton candy.
Whole grains slightly less because of the long duration it takes your body to break down the grains. You benefit from the inefficiency of human digestion of whole grains. And coupling sugar in fiber helps too for the same reason.

whole grain.

Lots of nonsense in this thread. First, humans weren't around 8 million years ago, we weren't even around 300k years ago. Second, pre-human species weren't carnivores. Third, hunter gatherers (other than inuits) have diverse diets of meats and plants, and when they can't get meat, which is often, they don't starve. Humans have been eating starches, sugars and meats for as long as we have existed.

In moderations....

All diets are nonsense...all you have to do is this: avoid any animal protein, fats and refined sugar. Eat veggies, whole grain bread and pasta if you want.
This sounds like a diet.

Eat what you want. If you want to see if something works for you, try it yourself. Moderation and exercise are the key. Do you own research. Eggs have been proven good and bad back and forth for years. If you like eggs, eat them. If you don't, leave them on the shelf at the supermarket.

Sure, that make sense.... do your research. Hopefully not made on cable TV network🙂

i'm pretty sure if food was scarce, losing weight was not a priority.
people spread across the globe, and thrived -

we are not fat because of processed food - we are fat because of the abundance of food, the ease at which we obtain it.
And by ease, i mean sit in a chair and get paid for it, then dial a phone number and food arrives.

my experiment
Since getting sick 17 days ago - i've stopped drinking. Eaten healthy. Walked, did some light labor at my client's home, and worked in my yard.
i'm down 14 lbs. Eating healthy for me means, a scoop of sherbet for dessert, meat, fruit, bread, salad, veggies, yogurt, protein bars, tortilla chips and bean dip, and even some chocolate.
So i'm not suffering.

gee - ya think it is the beer? cutting out the 800 (or more) extra calories + massive carb hit each day right before bed?

Interesting - someone mentioned this above - make it through childhood in earlier times, you got a shot at living longer - but now medicine has eradicated many childhood diseases. Wonder if war had alot to do with it also.

Anybody watch 'Genius' on nat geo?
A young Einstein abandons the scientific method for theoretical physics, and is shot down as 'not true science' -

Not true. It's very very difficult to gain weight or become overweight on a keto diet. Your metabolism just doesn't work that way. The way to become overweight is to bypass your metabolism and eat pre processed foods.
Pasta and beer turn into stored fat instantly. Salmon and spinich do not.

where does rice fall into the realm of edible food? Potatoes?

if i eat grains that have been smashed, had water and egg added to them, blended and dried. then rehydrated in hot water, I'm not sure that is processed food.

the only difference between pasta and beer is yeast.....??? - ok, that is a joke. cause i know beer contributes

but since i know plenty of people that eat pasta, drink beer, and are not fat, I can conclude that your argument is not universal.

Our timeline split from apes 8m years ago. But yeah, homo sapien sapien is fairly modern.
Please site a source of starch and carbohydrates from this time. Remember that an active Hunter gatherer would have to net over 100g of carbs per day to get knocked out of ketosis.
