I'm going to visit Kingdom Trails for the very fist time the next week (2 full days MON and TUE) but weather is not looking good. Will the trails be accessible? Should I cancel the trip ?😡

It has been overly saturated this year in VT. I would call Kingdom directly to feel them out, hear what they have to say. That would be a long trip if you can't ride.

I felt like the 2.5 days I rode there in 2015 was not quite long enough.

Get a good "two day plan".

I was in the same position as you a few weeks ago; had planned to go and the forecast looked wet. We went anyway and it just rained a little bit the first morning. It dried pretty quickly and we ended up having a great day.

The place is amazing and well worth the trip!! Have a blast!! Make sure you check out Kitchel.

Here is a loop I put together for someone last year:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/15986684

This gives you all the good stuff in 1 day. The mileage looks high but trust me, it's totally doable in a day. You have water available at the shop but also just after mile 13 when you get to the top near the church. You can do this then see what you like most and repeat it on day 2, or do something else. I would switch up the sidewinder/piggyback/bearback part but you'll figure it out for day 2 if you want.

There is also Moose Alley and the Farm Junk/Sky Dive stuff but that would take your 1-day ride off the charts. If you want to do Moose Alley on day 2, with the stuff at the end, you can find that here:
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/15986488

If you are there for only 2 days, I am not sure what I would suggest but I would personally skip Moose Alley as I have done it several times. You could also do Moose Alley on day 2 then top it off the the highlights.

Make a list of trails, make sure you hit these:

  1. Troll Stroll
  2. Tap & Die
  3. Tody's Tour
  4. Sidewinder
  5. Piggyback (down)
  6. Bearback
  7. Webs & Old webs - this is not critical
  8. Jaw just because
  9. Heaven's Bench to Ridge to Rim
  10. Kitchel
  11. Pines
  12. Riverwood
The ones in bold - if you do not do those 5 you cannot earn your Boy Scout KT Badge. They are required.

Have fun!

I would throw Burnham Down on the list as well. Maybe not as fast as the others on the list but seems like a lot of man hours went into building it so worth checking it out. I'd recommend taking the trail toward RT.114 not away from it.... little more DH that direction.

Great list, only one I missed was Heavens Bench, going to make sure I hit that in August when I go up there. I would bold 2 and 3 as well. While most people find Troll Stroll to be better than the other two I find it hard to like anyone over the other of the top three.

I think I was most impressed with Bearback, because of the context. We hit it after sidewinder and it still stood out to me as a great almost pump track like trail after how ridiculously fun sidewider was, that is not easy.

I would replace Jaw with East Branch, but that's mostly because I hate trail bridgework unless it is to gap something short. It is masterful work but I just hate it, personal bias. East Branch was really cool trail with berms that slowly worked its way down to the stream/river and back up again. Maybe my memory is bad, I never see anyone mention that trail as something to hit so keep that in mind.

The only other thing I would mention is if you get bored of the endless smoothness, you can hit pastore point loop for some roots but for two days I would skip that.

@jimf

I think what you call East Branch is Rim down to East Branch. Or maybe what I call Rim is really Each Branch. For the most part, East Branch is the connector. And since last year that whole area is entirely redone - not necessarily for the "better". The run may very well be Heaven's Bench to Ridge to Rim to East Branch - a combo of 4 trails. IDK exactly.

I will always like Troll Stroll best because it was my first KT trail. I generally agree that any of the Ts are good and I would encourage them all.

I know its a hike uphill, but I think the combination of Good n you (CCW direction) to farm junk/skydive/nose dive was fun.

Is good n you new? The map I have shows "to farm junk" or "White school" as the trail name. We are going for 4 days and plan to try and hit each area, the rental we have is closer to the moose alley/farm junk side. I might start out with some new stuff this time, looking forward to going.

It is new. I do not share Utah's opinion of it. I think you should hit it but if you are expecting anything in league with the Greatest Hits I listed, I think you'll be disappointed.

If you are going for 4 days, I would consider a half day pass as the DH park for $20. Totally worth it.

Yes, new and awesome. Add to must ride list. Counter clockwise is the intended direction.

Totally agree with Norm on the 4 day plan. I was going to suggest taking a day and riding elsewhere, but decided against it because 1st time, blah blah.
