Knee pads 2021

I guess... They're similar to my old ones from 2004. They feel a lot more secure, but definitely not as comfortable...

One advantage of the new ones is they can go on/off without faffing about with shoes, unlike my 2004 model. So if I I know I'm about to start a long transfer climb, I could easily take them off and stuff them into my pack.
In comparison, these are the every ride* ones people are talking about:

*i will not be wearing them every ride

Just did a ~1.5 hour test ride with the Fox Launch D30. You won't forget that you're wearing them, but they also have no trouble staying up with a top and bottom Velcro strap. Protection is substantial, just shy of full on plastic plate; not a light XC pad. Ordered a medium, package says medium, pads are actually a small based on the markings. Actually means they fit my calves very well, but are too tight on the thighs. Experience has shown that these things always stretch, so I'll deal with the sausage legs for now.

Pro tip - regardless of the pad, rinse them off after every ride. Sweat will eventually kill these things.

these do look good for general riding, but am i the only one that noticed the model has a scratch right below the knee pad... 😛
I am not a PI fan, however, I have found their accessories to be top notch. Booties, gloves, all superb. Hoping these are the same.

i would have to agree here - I have PI winter shoe covers that lasted 5+ years until i shredded one from a crash. my PI winter gloves have been washed and worn the same timeframe and are still my go to gloves when its really cold.

Been using G-Form Knee Pads for about 6 years. Average about 3 years for each pair. The pads hold up but the spandex that the pads are attached to develop holes and tear easily. Size large, I’m 190 pounds with thin legs. They are tight on my calves and a little loose on my knees. Can’t be helped as many already noted that we are all built differently. Ordered a pair of POC long knee pads and elbow pads. Will see how those work. Ride lots of chunky sh-t so would rather the pads take the hit than having chunks taken out of my flesh.😁

Ok so they arrived exactly at the right moment today when I was done with my lunch ride and finished showering and getting dressed. Went out right as the mailman left and no one in the house even saw me bring them inside.

Opened the package thought they were red and realized it’s just the storage bag. Opened the bag and thought there was only 1 pad but the other one was tucked inside. 🤦🏻‍♂️
I’ve never worn or ridden with knee pads before so hard to judge if these will work for me.

Initial trying them on seems to align with @Victor I I comments they are a little loose in the knee but seem ok on the thigh and calf. I went with the XL because I was worried the L might cut off my thigh circulation based on the measurements and everyone commenting elsewhere in online reviews to size up cause they run small. I don’t think I will be able to really tell how they are until I ride with them if they will stay in place or not.

One trick I learned with my knee warmers is to moisten the silicone grippers to help them stay in place better. I tried that and I have been wearing them around the house under my sweatpants since its cold in my basement with the AC on and i dont want 1000 questions from the family.

Well so far maybe they are too big because they already slide down a bit from the thigh. Might bring them anyway this sunday and see how it goes during a real ride. I just hope I don’t need to test them Sunday for real.
