my friend's friend's condo which is right in town somewhere (not sure where).Where are you staying in the Lake Placid area? The World Cup courses were run on the XC skiing trails of Mt Von Hoevenberg, so probably not a lot of ST.

Can't imagine you'll be disappointed riding Craig Wood (10 min drive from downtown, or bike from Lussi Loggers via Jackrabbit trail) and Hardy Road (25 mins away). Both have super flowy fast sections as well as chunkyness. Plenty of variety, and all the big bad scary looking drops have bypasses so nothing mandatory.my friend's friend's condo which is right in town somewhere (not sure where).
Hmm, this summer they had a ton of info, trail map, etc. Wonder if bike is closed for season as they prep for winter? Would be odd to take bike info down tho? I didn't go this summer, couldn't fit it in, but was considering it.Whiteface still runs the lift for DH? I thought they stopped a few years back. Just checked website and nothing about biking there.
Doesn't look like Whiteface is doing DH currently. All trails shown on Trailforks show closed. Poorman's DH from the Whiteface Summit Rd will require a shuttle, but so worth it. Do some of the other Flume Trails, drive over to hit 3 Sisters and Hardy Road. All the Wilmington trail systems in 1 day.Whiteface still runs the lift for DH? I thought they stopped a few years back. Nice. I need to get back up there next year. Hardy Rd is the only spot I haven't had a chance to ride.Year 2 and I hit 2 different trail systems. Hardy Road is definitely the best spot up there. The climb to the top of All In was rideable but brutal but the downhill was SO worth it. Long, fast, drops, berms, rollers, kickers, so fun. Really well designed/built trails.
Flume Trails are more old school rugged singletrack similar to north NJ. I was shuttled to the top and did a fun 3 mile downhill point to point so not sure how easy it is to put together a loop here. It's basically Whiteface side country.
BETA has done a great job up there with all the trails. Good signage and everything is on trailforks. Already psyched for next year.
Plenty of intel when your ready.Hoping to get up there sooner than later. Friend is teaching at Paul Smith/local to the area now.
