Let's see your EMTBs!

so i have seen this mentioned before and probably will again, but since i have both size wheels hanging on my wall i decided to demonstrate the fact that the rolling diameter between 29 and 27.5+ is actually very minimal, i know on my bike which is able to fit both i cannot feel a difference between them. (27.5x2.8 laid on top of 29x2.6, the diameter difference is so minimal as to be unnoticed by the naked eye.

even he circumference is not off by that much (~3.5 inches)
27.5x2.8 at ~88.5inches

29x2.6 at ~91.75

im glad you are happy with the setup and if it works for you it works but the physics of the two are alot less different than some would like to believe.

If im not mistaken a mullet typically refers to a 27.5 in a standard width not a plus tire
dont mean to derail the ebike discussions since im not on the eBike scene.

but this comparison info actually helps with my search for new wheels for my Timberjack. Probably need to just find 29" wheels and run 2.6 tires cause finding 27.5 used wheels is proving impossible.

Are e-bikes an exception to post-pandemic fallout? Just trying to wrap my mind around a price hike in a slumping industry.

E-Bikes are what the Industry is counting on to save it. People whine about a cable going through a headset bearing but no one bats an eye at the hundreds of proprietary parts and shop only diagnostic tools to work on one of these things that’s obsolete in 2 years 😂

Who is it?

Yea probably your best bet. The cirmference measurements were taken at riding pressures with weight on the tire (onviously gotnoff for the picture) so that's the real world difference shown as it really is. And I'll say riding the two I can't tell difference in rollover for tech type riding. The std 27.5 is noticeably different (still not a huge difference mind you) but 27.5+ to 29 is negligible in my experience.

I actually rarely use thev27.5 bc i don't like how they feel in the corners

Well if you know my riding I don’t really ride tech I prefer the flowy stuff like Nassau and the not so rocky parts of stephens.

I haven’t ever tried the bike with 29” at all Id have to get it all adjusted.

But if you’re not really using your 27.5 wheels… hmmm. 🤪

Hell, even 27.5 2.6 at the “proper” pressure, i would roll the rear tire in corners often

Whole frame is alloy, the crash beam is an extruded 2x8 hollow piece that goes across the rear of the car. I just got some 4”x1/2” grade 8 bolts and washers and went at it. I did it for a bike rack, it’s not for towing boats.

Yes if you use those “ light” xc 2.6/2.8 tires. This is an e bike thread, get these, mount them on 40mm iw rim and try to roll it….. good luck with that.

I think I have some. DM me the specs of what you want

Just got home from a vacation in Davis WV with a number of my XXL teammates coinciding with the Canaan Mtb Festival. Conditions were (apparently abnormally) epically awesome. Hero conditions. Rock gardens and loam for days. I am so happy jdog let me borrow the Moterra SL demo until my new bike arrives. While I probably could have done the rides we did Thurs, Fri and Sat, I would have been absolutely wrecked by the end. Instead I'm merely spent. The Moterra worked well there as I rarely used any power level about 2/8 (Eco).

When we registered for the festival, my teammates made so many donations to the local trail group we managed to score a guided tour on Sat by one of the local trail organizers who is currently working on legalizing some of the less known trails as well as getting more trails built. He said it's quite a challenge as there are 4 different agencies who manage the land around the Davis area. Regardless, he is a beast of a rider who knows the trails like the back of his hand and has the skills and fitness to make following him a challenge. And he's a former DH racer from the Cali scene, so DH speed was not a problem.

While e-bikes are technically not legal on some of the trails in the area, the local bike shop rents them and apparently the rule is not enforced.

The Moterra on the rack of my friend's F150 Lightning we used for shuttling. Man, it's a nice truck...

Now to clean it up, get my parts off it and back to Halter's early this week. My Levo SL is now in the DC area where one of my teammates will try it as well as see if his wife might be interested in trying it.
