Excellent snow today at Lew Mo.
Very little ice. All trails had good consistent coverage. Snow well packed. That Sidewinder trail was tits!
Maybe didn't need studs, but fatness for sure. Could probably go MTB if you're into it, but sketchy AF.
I rode Lew Mo yesterday before sunset. @Sven Migot’s assessment was spot on. The center tread of most trails had a mix of light snow on ice, and traction was “ok” with fattie tires (no studs ). But there was plenty of soft stuff to the left and right of the centerline to ride and avoid slipping. I think today will be the last good day there until we get another freeze or snow. Tomorrow through the weekend is going to be messy.I rode Patriots Path from Mendham and LM on an XC bike, LM was good for the most part on XC just took it slow and picked good lines, Patriots Path was pretty icey and I wished I had fat tires.
Studded tires needed?
Probably better to have them right now but I’m sure it’s still rideable and fun with any fat bikeStudded tires needed?
where does the packed tread start/go?
Ok who is grooming lewmo after this last round of snow!?!??
I went yesterday afternoon, hoping the mystery groomer had gone back, but no such luck. Not even snowshoes yet. 😢
It sucked Saturday for non-fatties, even on the groomed sections...hopefully w/ all the melt it's getting better thoAny update on conditions?
I was hoping to take the fatbike there today, but driving from SI so I wanted to make sure it's worth the trip. Only got in a mile out by me yesterday on ungroomed trailsIt sucked Saturday for non-fatties, even on the groomed sections...hopefully w/ all the melt it's getting better tho
Saw a couple fatties on Saturday and they seemed to be getting around OK, covered more miles than we did. At least in terms of the snow sure it's gotten better since. Can speak to if spots are now muddy and what not tho.I was hoping to take the fatbike there today, but driving from SI so I wanted to make sure it's worth the trip.
