Magicshine

Sad

This is sad news. I feel bad for them.

GAME OVER!
Yes, you guessed it - GeoManGear is closing up shop. Despite our best efforts we are not able to continue in business.
Our voluntary recall of the Magicshine battery packs has taken a huge emotional and financial toll on us. We undertook the recall because we cared about you, our customers. We expected that other Magicshine dealers would follow our lead but they didn't and this put us in a very uncompetitive position.
We want to thank all of our loyal, devoted, and fanatical customers from the bottom of our hearts. You have all been great supporters of GeoManGear over the years and we are going to miss you.
We will continue to be here to handle any warranty issues and to continue the recall program.

Thanks from the Geomangear Team!

Thanks too bad. Cant say I find the new suprising as im sure that recall was a major hit to the bottom line.

I'm guessing they file for bankruptcy, and then open up shop under a different name.

That sucks. I'm extremely impressed with my light I got from them. I specifically bought from them instead of the slightly cheaper places.

I was actually planning on buying another and I just went to their page to throw them $$ and buy another light/battery but they're done.

As for going bankrupt and starting over, I'm just assuming it's a mom & pop shop that is moving onto other things. I know "Geoman" died a few years ago so whoever kept going probably just wants to exit.

It probably won't make any different, but I sent them an email and mentioned I'm willing to spend a few hundred bucks if they decide to open shop again. They have a huge following on mtbr and many other cycling sites. I believe there's more to it than just taking a hit from the recall. Like you mentioned it sounds like they want out of the whole business.

I thought the same when I saw this. I wouldnt be surprised its a combo of the recall, along with this.

Im glad I recently grabbed a second light and tail light from them. I got in at the end. They were a good business. I bought my GPS from them way back in the day... Sad to see them go.
