Motivate Yourself for 2026 Thread

I didn't gain the 10 pounds of weight this fall so far. Actually holding 175. Haven't done any high intensity workouts either. With me new rescue dog (pictured) three walks a day, weightlifting 3 days a week and 2 rides all low intensity. Want to sign up for some long gravel rides not races. I will start adding up the miles in 2026. I am happy that I don't have to drop the 10# seems like a plan.

2025 was interesting year for me cycling wise. Started out planning to MTB much more then I got selected for my company’s annual Cancer charity ride so I decided to set the MTB aside from March-Sept in order to follow the training plan and not increase the odds I get injured (advanced beginner skill level only).

prepping for that event and following a coaching plan for the first time ever really put me at peak performance and I enjoyed every minute of that 3 day event. Really put my fitness at a high level I haven’t seen in a number of years.

The interesting thing is I didn’t really drop too much weight and I fact right now I’m about #10 higher than last time this year. Even tho my fitness level is still pretty high. The last 2 months I’ve still been training but for sure not the same intensity as before. I’m already ahead of my total miles for 2024 which was formerly my highest ever - sitting at 7690 right now aiming for 8000.

My last goal for 2025 is a Winter Solstice Century but that’s weather dependent- any crazy wind or potential icy roads and I just won’t go.

For next year I want to start off and lose the 10-15 lbs i need to feel more comfortable in my clothes. Hope I can stop the gain the next few weeks.
Definitely more rides back on the MTB for sure. Need to get back to Allaire and Hartshorne I had a lot of fun with some of youz there last Feb/march.
Exploring some bigger gravel events as well
I also want to ride more than one century
Also going to continue my streak of One Metric per month. Once I get December’s done that will be 2 years in a row now.

And 100% need a better routine of off bike exercise including Rower and indoor Bodyweight type sessions.

Let’s see how this all looks in March 2026.
