It has been awhile since I have posted words. Art and I both have had some health issues, and as of yesterday, things are turning for the better. Art has finally been able to get back on a bike after another round of sciatica. We are done with trail building for the season in both Sterling and Ringwood. What a treat to ride Redback south yesterday with the building crew as we could enjoy the fruits of our labor. It was a very successful season, and things should finish up by spring.
I have started packing for Arizona, and we should be on our way by next weekend. While temps here are almost ideal for riding, my neck is already bothering me. The Arizona sun is calling me. I am planning a long overdue week off the bike for travel. Trail building by our AZ home is already under way and I am signed up for the next work day. A long time waiting for that as well. So something big to look forward to this winter.

Our drive across country was uneventful, which is the way we like it these days. Our house clean up always has some interesting surprises. I have not seen a scorpion yet, but we had a good size tarantula carcass in our outside garbage can. Things are slowly getting cleaned up, repaired and weeded out after being left to nature for 6 months. The first few weeks always seem overwhelming and then just like that, we are caught up.
We arrived during some heat ( 80's ), but that only lasted a few days and temps dropped right down into the 50's and 60's. While it only rained once or twice while we were gone, it has already rained four times ( .75" ) since we have been back. The rain is needed, so we will happily take it. It is looking like I lost my new pomegranate tree. The drip head batteries died and that section of irrigation was not functioning when we arrived. I have since replaced the batteries and while some herbs are coming back, I do not yet see any growth on the tree. I have limes already harvested and will have lemons to pick over the next few months, so gardens doing well.
Both Art and I have been out to ride about 5-6 times. Art's back has been fine so far. .... yay! Tomorrow is our first trail work day, weather permitting. It is currently raining but that should end by morning. We are hoping for a very productive work day tomorrow, as rain is a super bonus out here. There are some things that you can only do right after rain. Looking forward to a sunny day in the 60's or 70's. It looks like we may get some of that next week.

Glad you had good weather. The northern part of Az has been getting a bit of rain.
We ended up getting close to 2" of rain with the addition of the last system. ... not bad. Our trail work day was awesome with perfect soil conditions. There were 24 volunteers and we did 3 re-routs combined. Art and I did rock work. It was a very productive day, and was good to meet a bunch of people. The hike in was pretty far so we were very sore from both walking and carrying tools. Looking forward to the next work day.
Yesterday we did a semi local ride in Honeybee and did some mildly tech trails rather than the XC kind of stuff. It was super FUN!! Art's hand and back have been holding up. Weather has been perfect.

What a great looking trail, really nice terrain
Finally got our fountain refilled. We went to empty and clean it a few days after we got here and it needed a new coat of paint. We had to order pool paint. It took a few days to get here, and then it started raining. Two weeks later, it is running again. The wildlife will appreciate having a reliable water source again.
I enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with our friends. They brought Cosco smoked turkey, and I made gravy, mashed potatoes, salad and pie. While I do not eat much dessert these days, I do enjoy making pie. Always nice to have a few extra eaters.
We also did a local ride beforehand. We rode some of our newest trail work from the weekend beforehand and then re-explored some stuff up that way not yet worked on. For the most part, it was an eroded mess. VW size boulders rolled across and blocking the trail in one spot. It is not like you can easily walk around with dense prickly plants, some of which are barbed and draw blood. So it was an "adventure ride". I am not sure what FS has planned for that area, but it may be on my off limits list for a while.
