Nassau Trail conditions

Any updates?
Yes. Conditions were good. Other than that one soft patch that takes longer to dry out near the tiny Nassau rd lot, it was entirely mud free. But, there were some downed trees which were too big for me to clear.

First.

And then I saw this strange sight, a pole hanging from a steel cable. It looked treacherous. This is probably a few hundred pounds.

I was, however able to clear this myself. Yay me! 🤭

I also encountered this hiker who refused to move. Acted like he lived there or something. Rude!

He or his friends littered the forest with these strange tasting chocolate candies. 1/10, would not recommend.

Overall I covered most of the park except for the Foran trail. I think that’s the extent of the downed trees. Took about 2 hours total (including time spent taking pics, moving some debris and sampling the free chocolates).

Great intell and locator of obstacles. I'll bring a saw tomorrow.

Trails are about as good as they get here. Second or third time at Nassau since the pandemic and being on the trails in general felt awkward. Short ride in Nassau side but did not ride Springside/Foran. Though I got to the 3 trees reported earlier but the last one bound the Silky during notching so I gave up. Someone will finish. But I definitely want a mini chainsaw after today. And yeah it's time to ride more bikes.
