New girl

Hi everyone, my boyfriend and I just bought bikes a couple of weeks ago. He was into BMX growing up, but I have never ridden anything besides a beach cruiser up and down the boardwalk / sidewalk as a child. So far we've tried Six Mile, Clayton, and Mercer. Six Mile was great (especially the twisties), but we haven't tried anything past South Middlebush coming from Rt 27 for fear of anything close to the river being too muddy. ... Any suggestions on what else is good for a beginner in either Somerset or Monmouth County?

Also, any general advice for female riders??

First off welcome aboard...
there is a section devoted to female riders check it out..and don't forget to check the rides section for beginner rides now that the weather should be getting nicer the rides will start.
 
Welcome to the boards!

I would definitely suggest you drag the boyfriend with you to one of the Tuesday Allaire Beginner evening rides that start on the 28th.
