Hey everyone, I just joined up. Been riding singletrack in SJ for a few years. I just graduated college and am a MTBer on a budget! I lived in NC for a year and the MTBing down there was great, highly recommend it you're looking for a MTB getaway.

Edit: I would be interested in helping with trail work in the SJ area when I am available. What do I need to get started?

Trail work is headed up by Jorba and they are always looking for volunteers to help out with trail maintenance. Here is a link to their site with upcoming events including TM. The only thing you need is enthusiasm and a pair of work gloves but don't worry about the gloves they usually have extra's.

Welcome! Yeah, we usually bring enthusiasm... and an extra large sense of humor. Most of the time the work gloves are supplied. 😀

You can find the work dates and contact emails for the sNJ locations; Allaire, Ceres, Cherry Hill, Estell Manor and Wharton on the JORBA website. You can get the Belleplain work dates by reaching out to Allen from the SJWheelmen. Or sometimes all and everything is posted here on mtbnj.

my buddy who just joined with all those others said it took over a week to get accepted so guessing other people had same issue and everyone got approved at once? lo

Welcome aboard and thanks for the interest in helping out with the trails...we have a session this month at Allaire 8/19 depending on how far south in NJ you are..

I think Shaggz has to print out more permission slips or something. I had to assault him in the Mahlon parking lot to get approved.😀

Another south jersey-er. Do they issue you mountain bike down there?:hmmm:

I was in Greensboro, NC. Lots of trails there, nearly 8 just 10 mins from the apartment. Might be moving back down to Greenville, my gf just had interviews there. Sadly according to some trail sites, there aren't many trails there.

It took me a 3-4 days to get accepted too.

Right now I'm limited to Wharton, Estell Manor, CCC, GCC, and Belleplain for trail work as I live within 30-40 mins from each. I'm barely making enough to cover student loans at my part time job, but I will keep track the above places.
