New Years resolutions/ 2011 goals:

Ride solo across America
-This has been in the works for two years and is finally going down this summer. I'll be making a documentary of the trip as well.
-If all goes to plan, I should be doing a small practice tour with my girlfriend around the Florida keys during spring break, no promises though.

Collegiate Nationals
-Mountain: A podium is in the cross-hairs. After the entire summer on a bike, I plan on murdering some Fort Lewis riders in the face (that school offers cycling as a minor for pete's sake!). Thankfully the event will be on the east coast so logistics won't be a total clusterfuck.
-Cyclocross: not expecting anything spectacular, just looking to go. Especially since Rutgers is gonna pay for it anyway.

Eastern Collegiate Cycling Conference
-Cyclocross should find me gunning for first overall in the B's all over New England.
-Mountain is up in the air as the majority of those races are deep into New England and I'll essentially be the only dedicated MTB racer on the Rutgers team. Traveling alone is no fun. I fullheartedly intend on destroying the lehigh valley race though.
-Road is probably going to get most of my attention during the upcoming spring and I'll probably get my ass handed to me.
-One of the Rutgers guys is a Track state champ so I think i'll be hitting the velo this winter aswell.

Local Racing
-I doubt I'll be doing to much of the H2H or Mass this year. I'll probably do the SSAP early in the season and then be taking a break once I get back from my tour.

I never write this much, but this will be a fun year for me and bikes.

#1 bike goal: more TM time. i'm going to add Chimney Rock TM sessions to my TM time which is now mostly spent at the Sourlands.

#2 bike goal: go bigger.

#3 bike goal: keep getting my desk job legs and lungs fitter and fitter. in the last half of 2010 i really made some progress and am going to keep the momentum up.

Once you guys see me DOMINATING you won't be able to send Ben $ fast enough.... 😀

I'll only be able to ride with Jeremy on his off days 😡

Sadly that looks like the case for most of the people I ride with. Everyone is taking off with putting in crazy efforts. My goal is just to ride my bike more than I did last year.

Peezy goals of 2011:
Finish the SSaP on my bicycle and not walk the last 5 miles.
Not to OTB at the Bulldog Rump.
Not to drop my chain at the Rumble in the Jungle.
Try to steal a lei at the DH40, and not drink a beer.
Make funnier faces at the photographers in races (Need to think of something more creative than Bens tongue out, that is his move after all. I'm a fan of the Lil' Rascals right now, I think I could patent it)
Raystown and Vermont. Yeah I said it.
Have a blog that competes with Norms, with less cycling numbers and bullshit that I don't understand.
Make at least one meal simliar to EpicMealTime.
TT urrthang.
Make fun of everyone even more than I did last year.
Pee in Dustins cheerios at least once.

Sorry, I got a little out of hand.

Goals from the non-racing lurker

1) race in at least 1 cyclocross race (I never done that so I think it would be worth doing)
2) log more MTB miles (2010 was 64 rides for a total of 526 miles) – mileage does not seem like the right metric for MTBing.
3) visit 5 new MTB parks (on the list; Waywayanda, 6 mile, Blue MTN, ???????)
4) finally road ride in the skylands area; maybe a multi-day trans-NJ ride or a 100 mile Hwy 519 ride
5) Ride Kingdom Trails again!!!
6) ride out of state at least 5 times; (I’d like to revisit Taconic, KT, and the places in ATL. I’d like to ride Blue MTN. and at least one place yet to be named)

Basically it boils down to ride more and ride all over the place.

Cheers,

"slow" Joe

So just how big is this Singlespeedapalooza? I noticed it on bikereg.com a while back, and since then I've heard more than a few people mention it, and now a few more have mentioned it as a goal here. Is it really big? I put it down as just a training race this year, a fun way to get some prep in for other events. Is this a bigger deal than I thought? I honestly had never heard of it before this year.

Okay then! That's cool. I just wanted to be sure I wouldn't be out of place wearing my full team kit* ...

(* leopard print banana hammock, and half shirt with a beer helmet ...)

you'll fit right in, there are beer tents out on the course:drooling:

Well, I have a new coach😀 Ben, and I just registered for my first Half Ironman, so that will start my season. I hope he does not run away screaming from triathlon training.

If I survive that this spring we will see what the rest of the season will bring.

This is funny when I saw this thread I thought it was non-bike related so I was coming up with something very deep and meaningful... I shoulda known better.....but it is ok, because I could not think of anything deep and meaningful...so training more it is!

In no particular order:
Ride the tandem at Kingdom Trails in Vermont
Enter a few races both on and off road on the tandem with my stoker/wife
( Maybe Woods Hollow and Lewis Morris Challenge and some road Time Trialing)
Return to N. Carolina for AORTA II ( Appilachian Off Road Tandem Rally)
Put more seat time in my kayaks and surf skis
Work on getting my grandson( he's 1) out on the bike🙂
Ed and Pat Gifford
the Snot Rocket tandem

Ed, you should have ridden to the gym then yesterday, no snow excuses.

2011 goals:

-loose the poundage I gained in the last 2 months that I spent the prior 10 months loosing.
-More mountain bike and trail running time on more trails, I need to go somewhere other than Allaire all the time.
-Two half iron distance tri's
-Finish the Half Marathon distance of the Muddy Marathon under the cut off time.
