if your hands get completely numb my thought is that its a bike fit/ position issue...not to be solved by grips or gloves. youre probably putting to much weight forward on your hands.
So I wanted to post a follow up to to my numb hands question from a few days ago because I need to throw a public thank you out there.
I appreciate all of the insights everyone shared on the topic.
I took my question/concern and my bike over to J at Halter's. As I always do.
J listened to me for a few mins about what was bothering me and had me up on the trainer moving a few things around. He made a few faces and commented on how uncomfortable I looked on the bike. Then made a few adjustments here and there and got me in a more "ridable" position on the bike right away.
I referred to what he does when it comes to fitting as an "artistic science". He saw things and made the changes that changed my riding experience instantly.
I went out today and it was like being on a totally new bike. Not only were my hands pain free but the adjustments made my ride more comfortable and noticably more efficient. Climbing better, more power in my pedal strokes the whole ride just simply better.
I just wanted to throw a thank you out to Jdog. I really appreciate what you did to help fix my ride and everthing else you do for your customers.
Thanks again J...
Whoop-Whoop!
I am stoked that you are pain free.
This isn't always an easy fix.
Overall the changes were not huge, but when you combine them it makes for a notable change. Bar sweep angle, Stem angle, brake lever & shifter placement, saddle height and saddle setback changes make for a totally different riding posture.
I am betting you see some increase in speed and power too.
Was that you in Halters at lunchtime yesterday?
