OFFICIAL Spring Allergies Thread

I'm a daily Allegra user and occasionally Flonase because 2 indoor cats. But after yesterday's ride and being outside today with the breezy, warm weather, definitely feeling something.

I swap between OTC meds but Allegra is the most effective, started two weeks ago with Zyrtec and now Claritin left over from last year. It's actually worse for me in NYC traveling the subways, trains and Path. Hope Allegra will be effective again this year.

I really should figure out what really causes this but feels like it wouldn’t be worth it in the end

Allergies are peaking for me at the moment, Allegra in the AM and Pataday in the PM, also the Neti pot once or twice a day. Never been close to this bad, I'm showering off multiple times a day if I'm outside. Going to ride indoors today as my eyes are already itchy at 8am. Anyone also having a bad case this spring?

I noticed that the pine trees seem to be going nuts right now, I took a ride in the afternoon yesterday after things started to dry out and my neighborhood has a ton of pine trees, and there was a lot more on the roads around my neighborhood compared to other places

My ride in Stevens yesterday I felt getting caked up with pollen. Made them very itchy. Anyone else have that experience while riding?

As soon as I’m done with a ride, I wipe my face with water and a towel. Otherwise it looks like I was hitting to bong instead of riding my bike.

Itchy, scratchy, sniffly. Pollen covered car, backyard, dog and two shedding cats. 👁️👁️

I normally don’t have many issues with Pauline and didn’t have any issues mowing two days ago or even being outside, but I went for a ride yesterday and my eyes felt like they had sawdust in them and I was just sneezing quite a bunch for all of us last night. So apparently I’m allergic to something.

I used to have horrible spring allergies. Years of immunotherapy have helped me so much. They can still bother me a bit but I have no problem popping a Claritin and enjoying spending a full day in the woods during peak allergy season

No matter what over the counter I can't shake a dry/post nasal cough. Giving up hope and going to Medimerge tonight.
Have you tried the Neti pot? go with something easy to clean. Those fancy contraptions with tanks and pumps look like a pita to keep clean. We use this one and toss them at the end of each season. A life saver in the spring and fall when I tend to get breathing and headaches even with otc meds.

I uses one until i got the worst sinus infection i ever had from it. I found it difficult to get all of the water fully drained froM the sinus

Me, too. Also, the pollen is an irritant to my throat which gives me a coughing spell on my ride. I carry honey in a little flask take some and it calms everything down.

Try draining it by bending over till the crown of your head is pointing towards the ground. Slowly go back vertical and your get it trickling down. Have a tissue ready but don't blow your nose too hard or the water could backup to your ears.

The Doc said the irritation is due to my body trying fending off the allergies. Prescribed steroids, two inhalers and some cough medicine. Give it a week. If it doesn't get better may have to go see a specialist.

Not a neti pot guy. Tried it once, wasn't a fan.
