OOS MOGA

Fat? Prolly not.... A fattie is not in the near future. I have priorities.... HT, DH and then fat lol
I would rather have a carbon bike that I can break so I can go thru this madness every year lol jk! because I certainly cant afford to do that.
But couple of things I am looking for in my the HT is a tapered head tube and boost spacing. Ideally, I would like for it to share parts with my Hightower.... especially the wheels.

Santa Cruz Highball has your ticket to fun!

wait till Winter, seems like the love fest for them is coming to an end
Funny looking at the hot trends the last few years. Remember when you couldn't buy a fat bike, even from BikesDirect? What about the Ibis Mojo 3 and last year the Chameleon. Stalk the boards and wait, I don't think any of those posted here has sold yet.

I can be patient... I am already stalking @MadisonDan … waiting until he gets a flat! 🙂

@Paul H, I was thinking just the frames, but use the test to get a perspective on how the frame acts when ridden. The Chameleon frame is a good start at about $750. I don't wanna sound like a homie but the Ritchey is a very light, good handling, and excellent climber you gotta try mine. The frame I believe was $650. Are you going fat tire?
The Chameleon geo is spot on for many, but the bike is pretty heavy. My Carver is much lighter than my cousin's Chameleon and he just put on Reserve wheels.

That's a sweet looking bike. Love the matte black theme.
what's awesome is the flexibility of the dropouts to convert the HTA to 63.5/64.0/64.5. At 64.5 you can even use it for pedaling uphill. I only wished is could take 29" wheels as enduros seems to be moving in that direction.

Pretty sure Tony's a seasoned rider, he's going to make it painful for you to follow him...
Out of shape is relativity.
Yeah... I know.
We need more cattle prods to push us. Hopefully our fab personalities will provide enuff entertainment for him to stick around.

LOL. My tagline used to be "Lower Your Expectations". I will admit my regular riding locations are Allamuchy, Mahlon Dickerson, Stephens, Deer Park, Kittatinny, and Dickerson Mine so I'm used to rocks, roots, and log overs so my bikes tend to more suited for those places. So in that respect maybe I'll bring the Bucksaw and swap out the fat wheelset for plus wheelset that Jim just built for me as the Mach 6 would be overkill if my assumptions of CR are correct.

Oh, sorry didn't realize you're not familiar with CR. Yes rocks and a solid intermediate park. Good amount of punchy out of saddle climbs so whichever bike is better with small bump compliance. I'd agree the Bucksaw would likely be funner than the Pivot there.

Yes, I just had a major fleet overhaul. My bike fleet's turnover rate rivals the Trump Administration. I sold 3 bikes this year alone and I'm hoping to sell another tonight.
What size do you ride? Maybe I need to stalk you until you get a flat 😛

What gearing are you on?
I was once told by a wise sage that if your legs are tired, drop a gear. If your lungs are tired, go up gear. My problem is my lungs for obvious reasons.
You just gotta ride more to build up your fitness but to make things bit more fun, perhaps you want to get some easier gears?

Also... a lighter bike would make a ton of difference as well. Places like LewMo, a hardtail works well.
Not sure what components are on your bike but those older FS bikes tend to weigh a ton.

Lastly, pick a person and make him your target. It will be a motivating factor so keep on coming out and ride with us.

Paul, thanks for the words of advice. I am currently setup with a 1x 10 speed Shimano XT modified with a 42T cog and RADR cage from OneUp components. The front chainring is a 32T raceface that came with the crank when I bought it off the classifieds on here. I have a 30T raceface NW arribing today and I will install it as soon as i can get my hands on it.

As for the weight...I don't think the problem is the bike. yes, it's aluminum and not carbon, yest it's old...but as it sits the whole bike is about 26.5 lbs. I am not that aware of how much the new bikes weight but I believe that unless you move into full XC territory you probably get around 30+ pounds on a full suspension.

Yes, hardtail is an option. That's all I used to ride in the days, having transitioned to FS though I'm not really sure I want to go back.

That leaves one thing to work on...my weight, strength and stamina!

I think he was cramping up we do to much stopping for him

Not cramping up, my legs get stiff with lactic acid due to the long hiatus I gave my muscles during the last 25-20 years...hopefully I'am catching up with some exercise which I believe is the only cure for it. I can understand that I am being a ball and chain when this happens (always) so I think it maybe better for me to try and get better on my own instead of being the designated party pooper!
