OOS MOGA

I tried to run just now, between the smell of smoke from a mulch fire and the plethora of skunks I had to cut it short at 1 mile. I'll try again tomorrow. FYI, it's dark on the towpath.
I'm going to get a head lamp this weekend. They have good ones at Costco

I don't judge a book by its cover
I judge by its house 🙂
I'd just rather spend high dollars on assets which don't depreciate. I love cars but I have trouble replacing something that works. Going to drive the Honda and BMW till the wheels fall off. My wife always drives the nicer cars and I'm good with that. I'll be 50 soon, and already have a toy pick out.

1996 Ford explorer with 225k that's close to rusting straight through, what did I win?
How does it drive in the winter? Below 40f, need to drive in D2 for about 5 mins otherwise it won't shift. In real cold mornings need to drive local because 5 mins isn't long enough and driving on D2 on I78, not fun. Some switch problem which I've had for about 3 years

I would like to get a conservatory but the side of the house where I could fit it just doesn’t have the best lighting.
After we moved we had planned to add a new addition to the back. After a few estimates, we learned quickly it wasn't going to happen. $400k for 1500sf,which included a medium sized conservatory. Neighbor had the same experience. Guess that why you rarely see changes to footprints.

I was going to redo my house years ago and same thing. It just wasn’t worth it. Plus one is either out of their house or living with construction for up to a year. Don’t get me wrong I’m not against it it’s just not for me.

i've been in my house 28 years, and just recently had my mortgage go below the original amount! I just kept refinancing the improvements into the mortgage.
7 years to go - hope my w1f3 can hang in there that long 😀

we purchased in 1990, so the market was a little depressed at the time. House needed everything + some.
only thing left is some landscaping for curb appeal. it has more than doubled in value, which is actually behind the stock market -
if that means anything.

i consider it part of the portfolio, and a good place to launch for a road ride into the sourlands.

I always look at it this way, if someone is breaking even or even talking a small loss, much better than paying rent all those years.

I was going to say you probably saw the real estate roller coaster in those 28 yrs. We bought our first home in Edison in 1998 and sold it in 2010, doubling our initial purchase price. 2010 was still a down market but we lived in a hot area of town very close to a blue ribbon elementary school. Sold right away at asking and had to live with my in laws for 4 months till we found the house we are living in now. Unfortunately the market has been flat and the house has not appreciated. So we're reluctant to do any major work except basic maintenance and up keep.
