OOS MOGA

Santa Cruz Megatower.... hmm...

You need it, now the you got the XC, smooth trail riding covered with the RDO, you need to address that rather unexplored ground between trail and DH that this new model attacks so well!

On a side note, sounds like Santa Cruz waited for @Kangdoy to place his order on the HT before they came up with the Megatower...

...and I found out that the frame is arriving the factory 1st week of April. Grrrhhh!

Everybody needs N+1 until it becomes S-1
I have 5 bikes including the commuter and I am prolly at S-1 already because the deal with the CFO was that I get rid of the Talon.
She doesn't know the Talon is still in the garage....

Besides, I took my Hightower to Creek and it did fine and I prolly wont be doing any crazy stuff there anyways. Just sticking to the greens and blues.
I think I am covered for a while. Maybe a fat bike in the future but I will need a secret bike storage area built into the garage before I can go there.

As for Kevin... since he got the HT, he now needs the RDO. Actually, does anyone in the OOS have a legit XC bike other than Pat?
Y'all need the RDO!

@Juggernaut has several in his quiver
btw, what makes a bike legit for XC?

I'm considering getting an ebay carbon and doing the SS ridged thing and pretend I can take it but ice my hands and back after every ride.

I thought Dan was a LBS? So he doesn't count lol
What makes a bike legit for XC? That's a good question.... the hell do I know. I just wanted to show off my RDO.... that's not built yet.... and wont be for a long time.... 🙁

I've got an idea...we tell the CFOs that we are storing bikes for friends that do not have a garage big enough while we keep hoarding our own bikes instead...we can even swap the bikes every now and then just to keep up appearances...how about that?

Whats the difference between ebay carbon and Alibaba carbon?
Arent they the same just that some ebay stores sells them for more?
Alibaba are the bikes he wants to buy when he's eating empanadas, ebay are the bikes that he wants to buy when he's eating tacos...that's all! I think he needs to change his diet...

Or... we can say that we opened up a shade tree bike repair shop working out of our garages. This can explain why the bikes are not fully assembled.
Yeah... not gonna work

Ebay buyer protections
Aliexpress has the same thing. But in either case, I believe you have to bare the cost of shipping the item back when returning.

Everytime someone fucked up on eBay they set me up well. I've denied shipments and got my money back

what's the price difference between the two?
After seeing someone's China made Canyon seatpost crack mid way into a long ride, I'm not doing the generic carbon, especially if heavier than 180lbs

Supposedly breaking at the BB is very common for them too.

XC is about efficiency. Sometimes it’s stiffness, other times is weight. Still other times it’s about nimbleness. The one thing it isn’t is “all day” comfort. That’s not to say it’s not comfortable or compliant, just it’s not the focus of the tool.

Having kids who participated in HS sports I think the shoe analogy is appropriate.

Sprinters use “spikes” that are impossibly light with almost non existent soles in competition because that discipline calls for running really fast for relatively short distances, mostly on the balls of the feet.

XC runners also use “spikes” which are super light but have soles which are much thicker than those worn by sprinters (but much thinner than “running shoes”) because the running style necessitates use of the whole foot.

XC bikes need to be light, stiff, efficient and nimble. The trade off is the duration which they remain comfortable to ride.

Which is why I cringe at the thought of 27.5+ tires on the RDO. It’s like sprinting in workboots.

I would see something in Ali for $400 and then I would see the same crap for $600 or something
You see them popping up in pinkbike as well

I have used china carbon handlebars in the past and they were ok.
