Pivot Trail 429 frame sizing

Questions for you Pivot peeps:
Looking for some info regarding frame sizing application. I was at my LBS looking at the Pivot Trail 429 (and they had a Mach 5.5 next to it). Both were size Large frames, but they looked quite short. The employee mentioned that Pivot seems to run a tad shorter than other brands. It was during my lunch break so I couldn't take it for a test ride.
I'm 5'8", and normally ride a medium, but the large Pivots looked like they would work. Any of you Pivot guys and gals have insight with their frame sizing and how they feel?

I'm 5'9" and I rode a medium 429 Trail in Colorado last fall. Would strongly consider a large if I were to purchase one.

5'8" and Medium. Jdog said no way was I a Large, but if I drop the seat any, I feel it's a tad small. I prolly could adjust the seat back a bit, or go longer stem, but haven't bothered yet.

I bet I would rock a large,

I do not recommend up-sizing this if you're going to do some serious bike playing. If you enjoy doing things with the dropper dropped, don't ride a frame that's too big.

I am 5-10+ and ride a large. Wife is a hair shorter and rides a medium. We're literally at the cusp but a medium would be too small for my riding style.

I’m 5’10”, with short-ish legs (30” inseam) and ride a large.

Given my long torso and lots of roadie background, I’ve always preferred long cockpits on my bikes, but I don’t feel cramped on the Trail 429 with the oem bars & stem and the saddle set in the middle of the rails.

I’d second @Norm that you”ll find the medium to be more playful, if that’s a priority.

I have the first gen trail XL, I tried a friends new XL frame and it's on the small side, they all are.
Mine is perfect for me 6ft 5 its a keeper.

5' 10" long arms, legs, shorter torso, L. i thought i made an expensive mistake not going M. Coming from rigid SS , it is a lot of bike to throw around. Finally dialed in suspension, tire pressure, bar width and could not be happier with fit.

I'm an avg 5'9" and had a large 429SL. Reach and top tube were pretty spot on but two main issues leading me to sell it. (1) top of seattube is high, could only fit a 125mm dropper and was even a tad tall. (2) high stack, used zero spacers and a stem flipped to lower the bar height. If you have an inseam less than 32 and like an aggressive cockpit, a large Pivot maybe too big. Though mine was. 2019 so, newest geometries maybe different.

Good stuff and info. Yeah I want to make sure I get the right size the first time around, especially if I get this bike...its not exactly an inexpensive bike lol

I'm 5-10" & I purchase my leg coverings with a 30” inseam.. I am 100% a LG in a 429. In fact my body needs a needed a longer stem than stock. I also have the Switchblade and the reach on that is longer for sure. I could almost go med on that bike but no way on the 429. I’d also say that I found the 130 stock fork on the 429 a bit lacking so I recently bumped up to a 140mm pike and it really improves this bike at any kind of DH speed.

These are really well made bikes. I had the incredible privilege to spend a few days visiting Piviot in AZ adjust before the Covid hit. Chris is a mad scientist and a perfectionist. Look up some of the interviews with him talking bikes. He knows things about things that others don’t.

We sell a bunch of brands and this is definitely one of them.

@jdog they had a version of the trail with the 140 fork if I recall. On my gen 1 I increased the travel to 140 and added the luftkapp neg airspring. What a difference that made.
