Post a picture of your next bike part or mtb gear on order!

For those who do podcasts, the Downtime podcast had an interview with the founder of 7Mesh, which I thought was pretty interesting as far as all of the considerations for building clothing for different applications.

I also think that the capabilities of all of the fancy water resistant fabrics are dramatically oversold, at least for higher exertion activities. I have a fancy Arc'Teryx shell and there have been a few times when that's been awesome. Skiing in the pouring rain all day...stayed nice and comfortable. Low intensity hiking (ie "walking"), also great. Anything higher effort and it's still going to feel like wearing a garbage bag after half an hour. I think you just have to accept either wearing stuff that's going to soak through or wearing stuff that's going to trap a lot of sweat. Glad that we don't live in an area where riding in those conditions is a fact of life.

That's definitely the issue. The Montbell jacket has pit zips which helps a little but will still wet out when really working hard in pouring rain.

7mesh looks like super nice stuff, I looked into them briefly during this search before I saw their prices. Yeesh.

I have a couple of things from them that were heavily discounted and they are really nice. If there was one area where I wanted a fancy piece of clothing I'd look at what they have, but I'm definitely not going to be stocking my closet with $120 t-shirts or whatever.

Bent yet another SLX brake lever, so I finally ordered these.

Don't get me wrong, I have been salivating over a nice pair of orange ones for my fuggy, but, but...I can't get to find a problem for this solution! Would these have not bent if you had them installed? They only extend toward the front, not the back nor up and down. I bent a coupe of levers but it was always from a front to back impact (tree) or vertical impact (from falling on the ground).

Dunno? Everything I read says they are an upgrade to the OEM stuff as far as durability goes. Hopefully I like the ergonomics as well. Guess I'll find out (but only the second part hopefully lol).

Thanks to people like @Cassinonorth i dont feel guilty about my bike buying habits 🤣 . Probably gonna throw some custom purple metal flake over this color because why not .

Seriously. The guy can’t keep a bike longer than 6 months.

I digress, now that the purple Evil is gone how will I recognize you on the lift line. Oh, that’s right… by the God ugly MTBNJ jersey!
😂

Eh. I had the Ripmo for 18 months, the Element for 14. It's just when I get rid of a bike quick I get rid of it very quick.

Ranger was 3 weeks, Santa Cruz Chameleon was 3 days, aluminum Stumpjumper was 2 weeks, Giant Anthem was a month. I usually break even so it's whatever  They're basically inexpensive demos.

Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing but love for a fellow enthusiast. If anything, I’m jealous I can’t swap bikes multiple times a year. :hugs:
