I could be wrong, but I think he was wearing the exact same thing you see in his photo, which he may have edited in after you posted.

both ride looked truncated. i tried to edit the two files and make one but gave me an error. i edit my gpx files all the time. today i ran the same loop as last week and my droid didn't capture it all. so i edit the date from last week and upload. i am getting a new watch band for my garmin 405. and the droid is overprice p.o.s.

nice loop. next time check out shades of death road near allamuchy:popcorn:

It's back...Century Rides

Today was my first 100 miler of the year. Looking back last fall I did this ride with a 17.5 mph avg, today it was 16.9. The goal for today was do the time and put in the miles. I kept conservative with the effort and stayed in a smooth aerobic pace. At no point did I feel gassed, however the last 20 miles always seems the longest.

It was nice to see two smiling youg faces at the top of Pottersville rd...Rob(map1111) and RuChris. They where doing the JimV Roubaix loop.

To take a page out of Norm's Taoism let me sum up.

Tao of Pooh

Each century begins with the 1st revolution of the crank. Crunching today's numbers I calculate 31,416 revolutions for the ride.

I thought there were some consistent winds out there as well today, although it didn't look like it when you look out the window.

hot pastrami on a bagel century ride.

arrgh...i'm really can't stand this gusty wind if i my bike 8lbs lighter pretty sure i'll be blown away.thru out this rides the wind isn't so nice with me it trying to knock me down either from the front or my side i was hoping it will from behind..but, it never happening😱
the weather and tempt was very pleasant, however i have not meet many cyclist out there today (probably wind factor that keep them off riding)

rides and route
this time i'm able to ride on awosting to route 210 wich is very quite backroads surounded by greenwood lakes.didn't realize i was in new york side already (orange county) many small incline,a spot of sand (+/- 5cm thick)right in middle of the road at curve almost took me down, thank god for my mtbike skill. so,..from route 210.then take county road 5 all the way to route 32.roads also similiar with awosting or east shore with lakes on right side of the road.
too bad tho..i missed my turn when i was at county road 9.on my home made map (i draw a map on piece of paper from google map just to shortened map detail but i always put the main route/detail with very clear, but somehow a road name on a maps are very different with the actual location or places)
so,.this is why i missed my turn.i was looking for a road name "proctoria rd" wich turn out a main entrance for USMA gate that i have passed after 10 miles away before reaching 9w.

well,.no way i'm going back there.
riding on 9w at this point is bluntly a risk i'm willing to take as i vividly recall what's the roads surface/trafficts are like from last years ride coming from new paltz.
but..first i must feed stomach monster with these...
bikingpics2011206.jpg

it's a hot pastrami with lettuce, onion and mustard on garlic bagel.
i think,2 hours ago i have chicken grilled sallad with thousand island dressing didn't i..?

bikingpics2011203.jpg

soon after i took this pic at these overlook on 9w opposite road,a man aproached me saying hi after cath for awhile about the weather and the rides that i did.suddenly...i can't believe that he touches/pated my ass saying"so,.this is why you're look...." i forgot he said.
are southerner are like that? or he might be a gay hitting on me?
then i left in a hurry...that's weird.i never get a touches on my butt before by anyone (except mylady off course)

bikingpics2011204.jpg

crazy,..long strecthed downhill after encounter that indiana man.
that white pact from distance must be a ski resort just have no idea what it was.

stoping by here, admiring this historic site and the story behind it (i just loves history, without history there will no human existency today)
this located just less than a miles from bear mountain bridge, many tourist and hikers at that time some guy taking picture of the bridge with his muuuy expensive camera gear.

bikingpics2011208.jpg

bear mountain bridge from this historic site.

finnaly, made it to seven lakes drive.
at this moment i don't intend climbing perkins drive.
reached route 17,thinking wether i go by ringwood or suffern to CR 507.
i choose riding on CR 507 as i was worried with the darkness since i didn't bring any lights with me.
just as i thought, when i get to paterson area on CR 507.
flooding...
this morning when i get to downtown paterson also flooding roads was closed in some low land area.
so,.i take detour.

please, folks pardon my english coz this is not my native language,i'm trying to perfected from time to time.

will,do these rides once a month as a chalenge to myself.
wich is i already done january and february.

haven't u heard what goes down in those rest areas 😀
Ick.

That's funny! You didn't see anybody because I headed back down the west shore. 🙂 I rode up to the lake with a group but rode back solo to get home in time to take Shannon and a couple of her friends out for lunch for her b-day.

I already forgot about the wind. Yes, it was a beast, especially from coming around the reservoir thru Long Pond. And that sand on the curve, it wasn't just a little, it covered across the road and it was on a downhill too. Sketch city.

What about that raging river on the right, coming out of Greenwood Lake? When I saw how strong and heavy and high that was raging, it made all the flooding downstream in Pompton and Paterson and everywhere else seem so unavoidable regardless of how, if and when they open the dam in Pompton.

I only got in a half century today. I'm glad you got to do your full route.

definitely hitting on u .. haven't u heard what goes down in those rest areas 😀

grand fondo new york training group ride.

in order to get my monthly century ride chalenge.i joining a group ride called "training ride grand fondo new york" (may 8th 2011),that will took cyclist from central park x-ing GW bridge to 9w all the way up bear mountain then climb perkins drive and back again.
so,i wait at stritcly cycles in fort le.ride start at 9am.
group divided into 3.first group speed 18mph,second 16mph and third 14mph.
i was in first group, altho uli (ulrich .F the grand fondo CEO himself) said speed will be in 18mph but,,it's actually more than that.

about 22 cyclist joined and lead by uli.no warming up speed necesary.
this is my second time joining an A pace group ride.first 50mile i was fine.
but after climbing perkins drive i realized i can't hang any more. we are going fast pace at 19mph-27mph in some flats it can reach 30mph for good 5 minutes, sure i can hang in that speed..but without climbing tho😀(i'm not a climber nor a road bikers that's my excuse)

heck,,the climbs took all my power after miles 75..just before entering a small town that have many cyclist hang out on both side of the roads just don't know what the name of the town.so..i lost the group there.from begining towards end probably only 15 cyclist manage to stay with uli.other either get droped (like myself) or going seperate way.after that..i just going on my own
i'm really toasted.,burned in and out.

note to self..need to get more miles riding in a strong and fast group like this.
i don't care how many time i will get droped but i will not give up to hang more longer than i can hang.
so,.it was a very good experience riding fast with large group.i learned how to drafting efisien and how to block the wind and to ride in pace line.
someone got clipped,but he's fine.
