Quaker City or Mill Creek?

Anyone know how these courses compare? I'd like to do Mill Creek but the 40+123, 3 or even the 123 (if I dare) start times are hard for me family wise.

Just did Town Hall so I all fired up to race again tomorrow.

There's a Mill Creek video floating around somewhere, it's a big open fields with some off camber stuff and one big gravel up hill.

And you should be doing 123 with me in NJ!

I should but my I'm not ready for last place so early is the season. Once the snow hits I may jump in. a few.

Mill Creek!!!! Harry & I were at Town Hall this morning, and will be at Mill Creek tomorrow. Gotta support NJ tomorrow!
Here's my crappy first lap video from last year.

Just do what I did, only faster. And better.

Hey guys, how did Mill Creek go? I was out at Quaker City and was pleasantly surprised how well run it was for a new race. Fun course- lots of climbing in thick grass, a prologue with single track and a great test of fitness. Definitely recommend it.

thats interesting, i heard the exact opposite about the quaker city course in terms of design/venue....

i saw on strava they had a spiral of death....

Huh, I must be the odd one out w/ my opinion then. There was the spiral of death- but it was wide enough for passing which I appreciated. I despised Town Hall as it was so clogged up so maybe the open space at QC just caused me to be biased. Of course, if I could sprint faster at the start there would be fewer riders to work my way through...

I am not a fan of spirals but I understand they are a necessary evil in every region.

Mill Creek was a pleasant surprise for me. After watching 2 different videos (1 promo and 1 lap from last year) it was better than I was expecting. I really liked the course they put together. It was a good mix of technical and power. I'm not sure I would change anything about the course if I could, other than my shitty start.

Good to meet you and @Dominique yesterday at MCCX!! Sorry I couldn't hang out and watch more, had to get home to the rugrats... Glad you enjoyed the video.. 😀 Tough, fun races to start the season off for me... Kinda glad we didn't have to climb all the way up that hill this year, it was kinda rutted out at the top. I like the alternate way up this year, little more off camber, little less pure power...

Totally agree. The Mill Creek course design was really great.
Overall, it was a fun event!
I hope this event gains momentum going forward.

Me too.

I'm really disappointed that the NJ/PA promoters can't talk before the season and work this stuff out. We only have so many people to support so many races.

Someone who races a lot of cross said this was the worst course he has ever raced when referring to Quaker.

I'm mostly wondering where this came from:

I know it's been said a couple times but it bears worth repeating...First time doing Mill Creek for me and I was pleasantly surprised by the course and organization. Yes, it's not in the greatest neighborhood and the venue feels a bit like riding on the moon but they really did do a good job making a fun, challenging, well balanced course that kept you on your toes without any gimmickry. This is a far better course than some of the MAC events (ahem...Kutz, I'm looking at you) and Jim & Larry did a top notch job with timely & accurate results, prizes, the kids race, etc... As part of the team that tried and failed to make CXMeur work out again this year, I hate to see events like this not get the registration numbers I think they should to make them sustainable. This race should definitely be on the short list for everybody next year, especially if you give a damn about grassroots local racing.

I just watched your video for the first time and when I saw the start, I had PTSD war flash backs and couldn't make it past the barriers.. Spectating is one thing, being in the line of fire on those CX starts if always ludicrous speed.
