Ramblings from Moe Mountain

Went to my orthopedic doctor yesterday and with Medical Miracles With Cortisone Shots, Pain Pills & a Knee Brace Put Me Back On The Bike.
Easy does it. I really need to stretch more. He says I need a knee replacement soon. I said I'll most likely die first and he said all my old patients say that.
Think I'll stick with stretches and easy exercise first. Nice to get out again.

Can't stop. Won't stop ...even with all you've been through this year. You are an inspiration Pete. Keep on keeping on amigo.

Also, is that a tube patch plugging a hole in your pants?? 😀

Got snow last night, about 6-8 inches depending where you are. Wawayanda is closed ‘till further notice.
I know a back way in, so I went and rode Iron Mountain loop. Wow, what a slog! The fatty slid out and went down no less than five times,
really slippery. The last fall I had was the worse, the chainring grabbed my pants AND my boot lace.
My right foot and leg were tied to the bike so down I went. Now I got this monster on my legs with no way out,
I squirmed like a worm but couldn’t get free. I reached back on my bike and got my Silky saw and was able to cut my pants free,
then one good slice cut my bootlace free. What an ordeal. That’s it I headed back to the car with only an Eighty minute ride and five miles.
Enough fun for today

Nothing some duct tape and a couple of patches can't fix. 🤣
Glad you're okay.

Started my physical therapy this week, second session today. I'm not impressed.
It's for my bad knees and week leg muscles. Great Ortho Dr., so I'll comply. I think it's useless.
I drive an hour there and an hour back to spend 45 minutes working out.
Spend 10 minutes peddling the bike even though I told them I just did 8 miles for an hour in the park.
The only thing I do there that I don't do at home is the leg press, 90 pounds 30 reps.
It doesn't seem to help at all, but we'll see.

Haven't written in a while. My sore knees have been kind of an up and down story.
They get better, then worse and I'm trying to figure out what works.
I'm riding less than I used to because of winter weather and physical challenges.
I've added hiking to my daily routine, which I really enjoy. I started with about a half mile
and lately have gotten up to a mile and a half or more. I just enjoy being outdoors.
I realize it's fine to slow things down a bit and pace myself so I can keep enjoying the outdoors
rather than trying too hard and hurting myself and having to lay up and recuperate. Winter has
been a tough one so far, seems extra cold and unpleasant. I think it's best for me to alternate between
riding and hiking, using different muscles I guess. That's what works best for me, but it feels weird to
slow things down like this when I'm excited about my small adventures. and want to do more.
I've got to appreciate not everyone makes it to be octogenarian (new word for me).
Just be thankful for what you've got.
Pete
