Ringwood Irene Repair Thread

Many of the park names are historical. I know mountain bikers like names like "rollie pollie", but we are not allowed to name trails. Sorry.... park rules

Roads can be re-graded by machine. If the park has funding, they may do some re-grading. Tennessee Pipeline will be working in Ringwood next year, and they will re-grade their access roads.

That being said, if there are water design flaws, they will continue to wash out in the future. Jorba is looking to make some upgrades, but this may take a few years of planning, approvals and exploring funding. We will prioritize and try to bring you the best riding possible for next year, even if it means leaving our current project for a year.

If there is anyone interested in stepping up to help lead crews and do some of the footwork, please do contact us. We are spread thin, and would love to bring some new people into the work force. rvcc@jorba.org

Hi Pixychick, saw the bridge on thurs, easy to relay, just need 3 telegraph poles, a massive pulley block (need an engineer to tell you how many), erect poles in tripod over rock, put slings around rock, winch up, cut tree away place smaller rocks to support big rock, lower rock into place, job done i can help during weekdays but not at weekends in school time

Update on cleared trails:

These trails were cleared of deadfall last night: Skylands trail, Race trail to Shepherds lake, by pass rd (baddly eroded).

I just went up and rode Skylands, Race trail to Shepard's lake, and some of the red trail. The trails are in great shape; thanks for cleaning them up for us 🙂

farther out sections of ringwood to ramapo trail

thanx for the updates.

is the bridge that connects the red to the blue trail (on the way up to ilgenstein rock) still intact?

I posted this in another thread, but since Pixy asked specifically about 6 bridges and double S I will post again.

I've ridden both twice since the hurricane and double S is fine. 6 bridges has a downed tree after the very steep downhill (not caused by irene) so be careful riding it.

What is the name of the trail that has a blue triangle? I tried to locate it on the map, but was not 100% sure. It is mostly single track. Thanks.
