We contemplated the pipeline since it did have tracks going up to Piersons. But it’s a pretty hefty climb. We attempted to get up to Piersons from Sand Pit to Cape road. Got as far as the blue in this pic. Turned around just before it dipped down since we didn’t know if the trail was rideable from the bottom back up to Cape Road (red section)

Ah, I've always got to the pipeline taking Ice Pond then Pierson from the south but if the snowmobiles haven't been there it's a PIA for sure.

Hmm. I cannot decide Rwood or Stewarts this afternoon. Been out of town so would prefer to stay local; been driving a bunch. Probably start from Lot A or the school; likely the school around 1pm. Do not think my little hybrid will get in or out of Lot C. Blow off work and join me!

School trail into the park is soft and no snowmobile traffic so you’d have to walk a bit to get to the goods. Lot A and B are plowed so are OK. Lot C was not plowed when we were there yesterday. It’s where the snowmobiles start their rides.

I wish I could, believe me. The short stretch between the school and the actual fireroad was a little rough and soft as discussed earlier. Looks like @icebiker started from lot B, but I would assume all 3 lots are clear as are the roads. You'll be fine. If you get stuck I'll come and get you but only after work...
 
Thanks. Great beta. I will take your advice and start either from Lot A but most likely Lot B. I was originally thinking Lot A but thought the snowmobiles would not go that far. I will post up when I get home 🙂
 
OK. Mixed bag in my opinion. Lots of snow. You really got to want it because it is slow going. Millie White and heading towards Weyble Pond offers best conditions. But the beginning of Millie White where it meets the black top is all churned up because someone tried to drive a truck up the road until the first hill then had to back down which made that section a mess. Stay in the middle where the original snowmobile track is, put it in low gear and pedal. The area around the school is rough; so many boot holes and deep snow. That area sucks the life out of you; ask me how I know. Lot B is the place to park (as the experts mentioned above). Also as previously mentioned; the singletrack is very socked in. IMO fat bike is doable but really hard. These conditions are probably best for snowshoe or nordic skiing which is what I have been doing. Just needed a change since I have not ridden a bike since before this past storm. Get out there on two wheels, skis or snowshoes. Beautiful day + I saw an owl 🦉 😊

Perhaps it was today’s warmer temps (low 30’s)? 🤷‍♂️ Yesterday was 10 degrees and the center tracks were really firm and decently fast (other than that aforementioned section near the school)

Agreed. The tracks were the best the further away you traveled from the NJBG area. The boot holes and truck did not help matters. It was still fun.

I resent the 'nasty foot traffic' comment, where do you expect me to to walk the dog?!?!? LOL

BTW, this morning ar 5a.m. everything was covered in ice and temperatures are on the rise, it's going to be sloppy I suppose.

I walked the dog (I know @V-Dub, I know) behind Ryerson and I was surprised by how much the snow supported my weight over the snowmobile tracks on the fireroad, I also encountered minimal if any ice patches. It's probably decently rideable with a fat bike, not sure about a regulare MTB thoug.
