Science is looking up

Pic I took from across the street from my house...no filter, no editing, shot in Manual mode, some F and shutter speed lol...don't recall. Actually looks better than I thought it was going to based on what I saw pressing the remote shutter lol...

Somewhere around 2:30ish i remembered that I had made that custom filter for my DSLR (which I rarely use anymore) back in 2017. So I didnt get
any pics of the first 20-30 minutes of the eclipse but it worked pretty well considering I couldn't really remember how to adjust the manual settings. My long lens is a 70-300 so pretty much all of these are at 300.

Used night mode at first, then I was actually able to use full Auto at some point because I turned the flash on once it got semi dark. I stopped taking pics around 3:50pm i had to get on a work call for 4pm plus it got real cloudy anyway.

For zero real prep I am pretty happy with these. Maybe by 2044 I will learn to use the camera better. Probably not.

These look good - stitch them together!

Before, I couldn't understand why people would go to such extreme lengths to see a total eclipse.
But after seeing it in person I get it now! Plus the amazing weather was a bonus.
Being in the totality is a completely different experience from even 99%
