i did chimney rock almost all of the trails.70% maybe:hmmm:

Jim,

Where did you get up to 105 mph??

-matt

Right after our QuickChek stop, I had a Monster AND a Reese's Fast Break😀

-Jim.

PS-My Tracks just makes stuff up, it says that loop was nearly 80 miles, I go by the PowerTap😉

Hey Liong,

I worked out a route for a century!! I did 90% of it today but ran out of daylight. Unfortunately, the ride was long enough that My Tracks killed my battery and my phone died so I don't have a map of it🙁

The jist is...start in New Brunswick, ride the D&R to Blackwells Mills Road, jump on the road for a few miles to get into Sourlands, back on the road over to 6-Mile, back onto the canal into Bound Brook, on the road to Chimney Rock, back on the road and onto the canal back into New Brunswick, cut behind the Rutgers stadium and dip into the Eco Preserve for a cool 100 miles 🙂

-Jim.

wow,.that's so cool!

yeah, running out of daylights is no fun... i might try out your route when daylight is longer.

and these are my different version route i like to try it out next time.
from six mile-->D&R towards grigstown rd--->sourland-->amwell rd--->CR 629---> round valley--->22--->28-->CR--->canal to NB.

thanks for sharing,jim!!

To Round Valley huh? I didn't think of that😀

The section from Round Valley to Chimney Rock is FAR, that's one of my normal road loops and it'll take FOREVER on the mountain bike...

If I would have left a little earlier I could've hit a full century before daylight went away, I didn't leave until 9:30am so there's time now. The loop was 90 miles @ 7.5 hours so the extra 10 should get you at 8.5-9 hours:getsome:

About how much of each park would you ride?

That's a long ass time. Should one ride it with a consistent 50% effort? What do you two advise

I rode every trail in each park I hit yesterday just as if I were there on a normal ride. I even did my crazy zig-zag loop at Chimney Rock to get in as many miles as possible.

Pace I guess would be personal depending on your fitness level. I spent 274 minutes in Zone3, 45 minutes in Zone4, and the rest in Zone2...It's off road so you'll need to put out the effort the terrain demands but I certainly wouldn't really drill it, burning one or two extra matches on this type of ride can get you into a world of hurt😉

A few other fun facts on this loop. 569.8 TSS, 6,283 calories burned, 11.75 average speed 🙂

pack filled with food/water or pit stop? and where? I'm thinking about that Getty foodmart would be a good place to stop after 6mile. The one near the Canal lot on Amwell Rd.

I would do the road to SL to 6mile to CR to home. If my last park is CR that will prevent me from cutting it short cause I'm way out there.

No pack. Just bottles in my cages and food, repair stuff, and phone in my jersey pockets. On the Rt27 side of 6-Mile there's a quickie mart like a 1/4 mile up the road so you don't need to go out of the way (FYI, they only take cash there🙄). And once you pop out of the canal to head over to Chimney Rock there's another one, actually there you also have Efingers in case something mechanical goes south. I'm sure there's something on the route if you wanted to actually sit down, eat, and take a lunch break.

Manny, please take a pic of yourself if you do this. I imagine you will be geared up for an unsupported stage race. You might want to borrow Spence's trailer....

Why you always knocking son :2guns: I will take lots of pics!!!
Eh, I'd probably prefer a pack. So much gear in my jersey is annoying. I'd pack like my Bootleg trip minus like half the stuff I had which is light. F that quickie mart. I'll just stop at HKG! 😀

Not so much gear son. Tiny multi-tool, extra Co2, and extra chain link wrapped inside a spare tube and electrical taped...Takes up less space than 2 clif bars and is a hell of a lot more comfortable than a pack digging into your shoulders for 9 hours😉

What do you have on your seatpost? Co2 and a tube?

i would say,..it depend on what rig you're riding (me,SS all the time/all the way) and jim riding geared.50% on geared is not much, you can go more than that, and as jim stated before don't burn it too earlier you want to keep it at your steady fitnes level don't go beyond that unless you're comfortable with it.it also dictated by the terrain itself (hilly or flats) if you're riding long enough long distance rides you'll mastering one or more thing...about how to rides longer and stronger and heck.. you'll even have some fuel left when you done.

what to bring and whatnot..
it takes times and some basic knowledge to get thing done properly, not too much and not less either.and also you'll will learn proper way how to fuel up before, during and after rides.

jim,OTOH is the master of endurance, of course he don't need pack.😀

me, personally within distance 40 t0 70 mile i don't carry pack (only tools, some gels/bars and bottle water and i'm riding with my jeans plenty of room for wallet, cell and camera) and if i hungry a visit to a nearby resto is a must...but for longer than that, esp in new teritory i would considered bringing pack(beside it's good for your shoulder and your back 🙂, of course unless person with back problem i wouldn't recommend pack for long haul)

just my one cents!

It's a Co2 inflator with a cartridge in it, no tube there...
